If you ever wonder why the Epic Games Store will never be as well-liked as Steam: Epic chooses repeatedly to put publishers above consumers, then uses "think of the poor devs!" as a shield. Based on how successful EGS has been, it seems like no one is buying the shtick.

He also warned that these labels could make it easier for people to review-bomb games, especially those made by smaller studios.

Tim Sweeney replies to backlash against his stance on Valve’s Steam AI disclosure policy, arguing it enables “opposition mobs” to target and attack games using AI tools and their Steam partner developers. “Valve well knows that there are opposition mobs using this as a signal to attack games and developers that are Steam partners and 30% taxpayers. Imagine if Valve required developers to disclose their political affiliation back when cancel campaigns were in full force.”
It's wild that copyright law only seems to benefit large corporations to sue Grandma's for downloading a song or two, and then gets yeeted as soon as it's inconvenient for AI. Yet here we are. It was decided AI was too important to trifle with such things. But don't you dare download a song yourself, that's still the death penalty.
