New Preprint! Eating behaviors are often studied as individual psychological traits, but they are actually anchored in the world we live in. We’ve mapped the network landscape of non-clinical eating behaviors in India . A thread on why this matters. 🧵@AshokaUniv @IIM_Udaipur

Have you read literature laureate Rabindranath Tagore's 'Gitanjali'? 'Gitanjali' from 1910 is one of Tagore's most famous literary works. His poetry is felt to convey the peace of the soul in harmony with nature. #WorldPoetryDay

“I learned during my years as a trainee that science is very hard and that if your projects are ambitious many, if not most, will fail. Good ideas can come from well-researched experimental plans, but they can also come from something as vague as an informed intuition. So, it is crucial at times to trust your training and knowledge, and to take a leap. In addition, although it is important to have bold ideas, it is equally imperative to know when to let go of the ones that aren’t working out.” - Ardem Patapoutian, who shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2021 with David Julius for their discoveries of receptors for temperature and touch. Neuroscience should improve the real-world, embodied characterization of health & disease. We present a computational whole-body exposome framework that integrates multilevel brain activity (via generative + biophysical models) with extracerebral information (multi-omics, organ clocks, cardiometabolic pathways, and lifelong physical and social exposomes). These components can be integrated within computational architectures designed to handle heterogeneity, multimodal integration, and individual trajectories. The framework outlines future pathways to capture nonlinear brain–body–environment neurosyndemics, enabling individualized predictions for precision brain health across populations. doi.org/10.1038/s41467… At @NatureComms with a dream team: @durananiotz @joaquin_migeot @SandraBez9 @SolFittipaldi @carlosmig_12 @HarrisAEyre @MomohChi Henrik Zetterberg @alladi_suvarna @carmensandi10 @ihrobertson @SanneFranzen @DrTFarombi @JanitzaMontalvo @sudha_md @felipecourtg @sosa_valdes Jiayuan Xu Chunshui Yu @grinberg_t @ProfLawlor @sachdevps @KristineYaffe Vladimir Hachinski Karl Friston @ETagliazucchi @nanosanta 🧵 (1/5) @GBHI_Fellows @atlanticfellows

Maryna Viazovska, a mathematician from Kyiv, was awarded the Fields Medal in 2022—one of the most prestigious honors in mathematics—for solving the problem of sphere packing in eight-dimensional space. Notably, before her breakthrough, the problem had only been solved in three dimensions, and that solution spanned 300 pages. Viazovska’s proof, in contrast, was just 23 pages long and stood out for its remarkable elegance. She also holds the distinction of being only the second woman ever to receive the Fields Medal.

Werner Heisenberg was born #OnThisDay 124 years ago. At just 23 years old, while seeking relief from severe hay fever on the remote island of Helgoland, Heisenberg laid the foundations of quantum mechanics – a breakthrough that reshaped modern physics. Only seven years later, at age 31, he received the Nobel Prize in Physics for this revolutionary work. Heisenberg is also known for the uncertainty principle, which tells us that the more precisely we know a particle’s position, the less precisely we can know its momentum – and vice versa. Learn how his ideas paved the way for today’s rapidly advancing quantum technologies: bit.ly/49UEO9e #IYQ2025 #QuantumCurious
