I love our country. It's by far the greatest place to live on this Earth. If you're fighting for change it should be because you love our nation. If you hate America, you're on the wrong side of history. 🇺🇸

YAY! Perfect touchdown! What a crew. It's almost unfathomable that humanity has achieved something so complicated. Just 5,000 years ago, we didn't even have written language. Now we can circle the moon!

JUNKIE REMOVAL: I was just assaulted by a Fentanyl Zombie after telling him to stop doing drugs in a school zone. During the encounter, three liberal white women came to his defense. This is Portland.

Not a Good Jewish Girl✡️
Not a Good Jewish Girl✡️@estherzelda0514·
Look, I respect you Noah, but this is simply incorrect. There is a liberal American impulse to "all sides" religious fundamentalists, but it's not connected to reality. I'm not excusing ultra-Orthodox Jews, and as anyone who has seen my complaining about how they get special treatment in Israel can attest, I actually don't like them much at all. But it's not true that they are the "worst assimilators" to Western values, let alone "by far." Let me explain the fundamental differences between how Judaism and Islam exist, right now, on this planet. Mainstream Orthodox Judaism is not an old religious movement. In fact, it's more modern than Reform Judaism. This means that most Orthodox Judaism gained popularity solidly after the Enlightenment. Thus, most Orthodox Jews embrace, even encourage, secular education, participation in democratic institutions, economic integration, and a very functional separation between religious and state law, with the former being subordinated to the latter in a conflict. The exception is Haredi groups. They can form what I would (derogatorily) call "lawless enclaves" in parts of Israel or the US were education is discouraged, women are oppressed, and everyone is dependent on welfare. But so, too, does this happen with fundamentalist sects like Mormon fundamentalists. But can anyone really say FLDS is emblematic of even a substantial minority of people that take the Mormon faith seriously? No, to the contrary, FLDS is highly disapproved of by mainstream Mormons. So, too, are mainstream Jews, even mainstream Orthodox Jews, highly disapproving of the strictest Haredi enclaves. But here's the rub: Haredi and FLDS are very alike in that they set themselves apart from the society around them entirely, rejecting it. They don't seek to take it over, outside of a discrete geographic area. They mostly want to be left alone, kind of like the Amish. And this brings us to fundamentalist Islamic sects. This is broadly not at all true with them. While some are very spiritual and largely want to be left alone, that is the minority in strict Islam. To the contrary, "Islamist" beliefs are the majority, and they explicitly think that their religious beliefs demand broad political change and the rejection of "Western" Enlightenment values. These beliefs are not fringe, they rule entire countries. The Muslim Brotherhood, Revolutionary Shia Islam, Salafi-Jihadist Movements, Jamaat-e-Islami, Hizb ut-Tahrir, and Salafi Activist Groups in Egypt and other Arab Spring countries? All of them embrace political Islam and reject modern Enlightenment values, and they do not assimilate in America or other countries they move to. To the contrary, they seek to subvert the political process in their new homes because that is what their religion demands. How does this happen? These movements, contrary to fundamentalist sects from other faiths, have deep roots and significant influence across parts of the Muslim world right now, who support this project. These are not mere fringe outliers like Jewish equivalents (like the messianic extremists or anti-Zionist Haredi sects such as Neturei Karta). The Islamist movements have won elections (like the Brotherhood in Egypt in 2011, or the Ennahda in Tunisia), written constitutions, and maintain transnational anti-West allies (e.g., Cuba, Venezuela, Russia, Iran) that jointly influence the UN, they donate to American universities to influence their curriculum, and pump billions into online propaganda networks. Do the FLDS, Haredi, or Amish behave this way? No, they do not. Polls in a lot of Muslim-majority countries show there is growing and substantial sympathy for Sharia as state law, hudud punishments, or the revival of the caliphate revival. This is far and beyond what any Jewish fundamentalist sect commands. Why? Islam lacks Judaism's post-Exilic tradition of diaspora pragmatism that required rabbinic adaptation to an outside sovereign power. This absence of a clear separation between din (religion) and dawla (state) in much classical and revivalist Islamic thought creates a wholly different baseline for Islam that is not present in Judaism, which, even at its most insular, is not capable of exporting a political program from Israel to impose halakha globally or on host societies in the same way that Islamists explicitly do.

Assimilation should not mean giving up religious practices. What it means is that those religious practices don't separate you from Americans of other religions on a daily basis. (The worst assimilators here by far are the ultra-Orthodox Jews, btw, not Muslims)

Marie Hurabiell for Congress
Today, I heard a lot of concerns from San Franciscans related to public safety. In Congress, I'll work towards sending federal resources to cities with higher crime, especially complex crime that crosses borders, such as in SF, where we have Chinese fentanyl, smuggled through Mexico and sold by Honduran drug dealers. This is a federal issue.

I used to be shocked that gay men, like Senator Wiener, could support the chemical and surgical castration of other men. After all, aren't gay men supposed to LOVE men - not eunuchs? But once I learned about the BDSM fetish for castration, my surprise turned to suspicion.

“I'm a 23 year-old gay man who's never had an orgasm.” Sen. Wiener, a leading advocate for sex rejection procedures, comes face to face w/the human cost. I’ve never seen him squirm like this. It took immense courage for @JonniSkinner to be public about this issue. 🙏 ❤️‍🩹

HUGE news! We are proud to announce that in 5 short weeks, our campaign has brought in $420,756. Nearly 60% of donations came from right here at home, and we’ve already raised more than twice as much as some opponents in the same timeframe.

@MissionLoco @SusanDReynolds Marie is real. All she has to do is beat Chan and Chakrabarti--who will chew each other up splitting some of the Prog vote in June--then money will flow and Scott will be in trouble. His policies are not moderate, and SF IS moving to the center.
