A tragic turning point in history, President Abraham Lincoln was shot 161 years ago tonight at Ford's Theatre here in #WashingtonDC. Celebrating the recent surrender of the Confederate Army and the approaching end of the Civil War, Lincoln was shot by actor John Wilkes Booth while watching a play with his wife.
