Ever heard of a plant that can help with toothaches? 🦷🌼 Meet the toothache plant—also known as buzz buttons or Szechuan buttons (Acmella oleracea). Used in medicine for thousands of years, it contains an enzyme that causes a tingling, numbing sensation when consumed.

Check out the oak trees grafting project in collaboration with @nhdfl! We are using grafting to support the development of a seed forest of eastern white oak. The process involves attaching grafts from mature eastern white oak onto young swamp white oak rootstocks.

Duo Duo Wang is advancing research to improve the shelf life of tomatoes. By studying the genetics behind softening, Wang’s research aims to improve fruit quality, shelf life, and disease resistance—not just in tomatoes, but in other fleshy fruits too. 🍅

Arthropods help keep farms healthy by controlling pests and managing weed seeds. Research shows that high-intensity tillage—where soil is completely turned over to prepare for planting—negatively affects these beneficial insect communities even more than pesticide-treated seeds.
