Funny, informative & inspiring, Helen’s insights into the Danish approach to parenting offers a more enlightened & enjoyable set of alternatives to the UK’s risk averse way of life and tells us much about Danish culture @HarperCollinsUK

I didn’t take any photos of the actual @NewarkBookFest because I am an idiot, but I DID take a (bad) photo of the lovely ceiling and of the lovely town. I will definitely be back! A wonderful place and event, so make a note for next year!

Fabulous end to my day’s interviewing at @NewarkBookFest with the @OrendaBooks historical fiction panel. Great chatting with @essiefox & @AJWestAuthor about their wonderful novels ‘The Fascination’ and ‘The Betrayal of Thomas True’, books that offer compelling, exciting narratives, with historical authenticity & intelligent insight into the human condition. This is what book festivals are all about. In other news, Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds & Donald O’Connor have just been recast… #SinginInTheRain.

An early start this morning @NewarkBookFest, battling genres with the amazing @JoCallaghanKat @rowancoleman @HolSmale & @GilesKristian - a fine cadre of superb authors. Peace broke out as we concluded that the whole concept of genre is ultimately reductive - it’s all about great writing and great storytelling.
