It has been suggested that the Bristol Aeroplane Company didn’t make interesting planes, which I find sacrilegious. So it started with the Boxkite Britain’s first mass produced aircraft, used to train the majority of British WW2 pilots and prove aircraft’s worth in war. 1/9

RNAS Sick Bay, Dundee, Eric Ravilious, 1941. It was here Eric flew for the first time in a Walrus seaplane. The original artwork is in the collection of @I_W_M. #WW2

@Mappy6984 It hurts my heart. Their trying to legalize this in the UK. This shame should be penalized for those that perpetrate it.

Dr Helen Fry | WWII Historian
Dedicated women in British Intelligence, from those engaged in covert operations to those in vital administrative roles, profoundly shaped history. They were the unseen yet essential gears driving the war effort, and their indispensable contributions played a decisive role in determining the outcome of WW2.

🌸 We are very disappointed to see that our three newly planted cherry trees, which were a charitable gift to promote peace and cooperation between Japan and the United Kingdom, have been stolen, along with most of the stakes and guards, and the explanatory notice!

@BrisLibDems @DanicaPriest Miserable selfish bastards. I’d be happy to contribute to replace them but sadly they’ll probably disappear again. More difficult to resell if one doesn’t know what they are, which is probably what occurred.

Nerd Deep Housecleaning Update: I found one of my MOST IMPORTANT POSSESSIONS. About 20 years ago, I had some sort of software problem. To fix it, I needed some sort of a file. It contains a key OS file or authentication code or game component or something. It was so vitally important than I copied it onto a floppy and labeled it "In Case of Emergency ..." and put it in a drawer. Neglecting, of course, to write exactly what was on it, because it was SO IMPORTANT I assumed I would never forget. I found the disk 10 years later and had absolutely no recollection of what vital file was on it. But I can never, ever, ever get rid of it! Because who knows ...

British blokes…. I’ve purchased several “tins” of Heinz (British) beans because the idea of beans on toast intrigues me. I eagerly anticipate a tasting. Other than toasting bread and heating beans… Are there any other steps/ingredients?

I was doing a crossword in the pub & said to my Scottish mate, "I'm stuck on this one: Trapped on a desert island, eight letters, starting with M." He said, "It’s Marooned." I said, "Oh ok, I'll have a gin & tonic then please!"

Found this in a lay-by near home. Fewer than 110 AC 3000MEs were built and so goodness knows how rare this is today. Never drove one, expect it’s rather flawed. But would love to have a go. And great to see it.

there’s actually a fun backstory to this: the owner of this cat, a physicist, had written a paper using “we,” but the journal wouldn’t allow plural pronouns for a single author, so rather than retyping the whole manuscript (on a typewriter), he just added his cat as a co-author
luffy@0xluffy

there's a cat who has also published 3 physics paper
