In the 2025–26 financial year, the UK Treasury received £331 billion in Income Tax. In the same period, the Government spent £333 billion on welfare.
This situation is clearly unsustainable and requires urgent change.
For the first time ever, we’re now spending more on welfare than we raise from those who are actually working.
We need to change course: cut the burden on hard-working taxpayers, reward their effort, and create real incentives for more people to get into work and contribute.
The current path isn’t fair — and it can’t last.

The so-called Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) levy is another stupid tax thought up under the Tories & implemented with enthusiasm by Labour. Its main effect is to increase costs for consumers & weaken firms affected by it.

Someone just sent me this. This is the company that @ButeEnergyWales set up to build the pylon networks for its wind farms. As my source put it: "That's a massive loss". Here we have a company that's yet to erect a SINGLE wind turbine. How can it run up losses like this?

Anyone into politics knows that the defence review was delivered last June — and accepted by the government. What we’re waiting for — and it’s way overdue — is how Labour plans to pay for it since so far it’s barely increased defence spending, which is badly needed after years of Tory neglect. That’s what my article was about. You should try reading before commenting. That way you’ll come off less daft than you sound.

@ianpayn @afneil True - it's typical political posturing. Anyone into politics knows that Labour are in the throes of a vitally important Defence Review. They will look at things like; Future threat Evolving tactics (eg drones) New technology Manpower And of course the big one - affordability.
