@TRUEDYOR @KevRGordon What I’m saying is these fabs still require human input, there are no fabs that require 0% human interaction and aren’t fully automated like you’re saying. What you’re getting at are “lights-out fabs” and for one to be 100% automated without humans is many, many years away.

What are you even saying man..there are plants with zero humans now building chips in Malaysia and that was 7 years ago. Automation is creeping everywhere and it makes sense for corporation to have robots do the work with efficiency and precision..thats why the numbers are going down and it will go down for every industry.

@TRUEDYOR @KevRGordon I visit one everyday and directly responsible for engineering the line. There’s automation for wafer transportation to and from tools sure but that again isn’t the reason for the drop in employment especially in the last couple of years.

Go visit a plant someday. Front end processes like lithography, etching, deposition, and wafer movement are virtually fully automated. Testing and packaging too.. Some old plants may run manual jobs but thats it..probably you have no idea how semiconductors are made..its impossible to have precision without robots.
