From C.S. Lewis's essay, "Tolkien's Lord of the Rings:" "The value of the myth is that it takes all the things we know and restores to them the rich significance which has been hidden by ‘the veil of familiarity’. The child enjoys his cold meat (otherwise dull to him) by pretending it is buffalo, just killed with his own bow and arrow. And the child is wise. The real meat comes back to him more savoury for having been dipped in a story; you might say that only then is it the real meat. If you are tired of the real landscape, look at it in a mirror. By putting bread, gold, horse, apple, or the very roads into a myth, we do not retreat from reality: we rediscover it. As long as the story lingers in our mind, the real things are more themselves. This book applies the treatment not only to bread or apple but to good and evil, to our endless perils, our anguish, and our joys. By dipping them in myth we see them more clearly. I do not think he could have done it in any other way."

It’s #MarchOfRobots 2.0! I’ve been playing around with Grok @Imagine lately. Using my March Of Robots illustrations from ‘22 has been a great test case for how AI can transform drawings into 3D-like images and then animating them. Check out the video for the full process!

@followffoz Very nice to have some visuals with which to anchor the imagination. Obviously some pretty wonky AI transitions, but still nice.

@otisframpton I wanted to respond with an exclamatory Thundarr gif! Alas, there's a definite dearth of Thundarr the Barbarian gifs. 2 or 3 with Ookla the Mok and that's it.

@VigilantFox In terms of indoor lighting, there are some LEDs that are better than others. Waveform Lighting is the best I've found so far. If anyone knows of others I'd be interested to know. waveformlighting.com/human-centric

Dr. Andrew Huberman just confirmed a “wild conspiracy theory” about incandescent lights and LED bulbs. The long wavelengths found in incandescents increase your metabolism and “charge your mitochondria.” Conversely, the LED bulbs that most of you have in your house are “causing disruptions in mitochondrial function.” DR. ANDREW HUBERMAN: “Your mitochondria function better, you increase ATP production, your metabolism increases in the presence of red light, long wavelength light to the skin.” “Shine long wavelength light on somebody, watch blood glucose levels in a blood glucose test, and it’s blunted.” “Now, the LED lights that are commonly used now… that short wavelength light, in the absence of long wavelength light, has been shown to damage the mitochondria.” “This used to be considered crazy. This was like chemtrail crazy, right?” “But now we’re starting to see from animal studies and human studies, from Glenn Jeffreys and others, that people’s vision gets better when they get in front of an incandescent bulb once a day.” “If they get sunlight, which also has long-wavelength light, your vision improves because of improvements in mitochondria.” The Biden administration quietly pushed incandescents out of the market through aggressive energy regulations. But you can still find them online today if you look hard enough. If that health insight stood out to you, there’s a lot more where that came from. (See post below) This page finds the moments they don’t want going viral, with captions that tell you exactly why they matter before you even hit play. See why 2 million already follow: @VigilantFox

Internationally recognized neuroscientist Dr. Andrew Huberman reveals a surprising trick to help you fall back asleep when you wake up in the middle of the night. “I can’t promise, but I’m willing to wager… that within five minutes or so, you’ll be back to sleep.”

Sorry to hear of so many job losses at Epic (and others) recently. I'd normally not say this as it can feel a bit vulturey but Rebellion has some vacancies in games dev and it always looking for great games devs to join our talented teams.

@SenatorCantwell No convictions doesn't mean no fraud. We haven't had legitimate elections in Washington State since they recounted their way to installing Christine Gregoire as Governor. We have all-mail-in-ballots with no verification.

@QueenKaylaleesi I've backed projects that I expected would take a year or more. I'm understanding of delays, but I don't intentionally want to wait more than a year. I think a month to three months would be a sweet spot for a comic. Long enough to anticipate & still care. 6 mo. not bad either.

Question of the day: Realistically what is the longest you'd want to wait for a comic book that's being crowd funded?

@otisframpton @grok I don't remember this robot! I think it's my favorite one. I'm always a sucker for a blend of organic/natural materials and manufactured materials. That's an element I loved in the game Stray as well. Still not sure what none of the robot companies have taken cues from it yet.

Scripture never ask if you are Catholic, Orthodox or Protestant. It expresses the need to be “in Christ” to be “born again” to be an “heir with Christ” to be a “son or daughter of God” to be “bought with a price” and so on. So much stupid fighting on this app from people who are suppose to serve the same God. Jesus specifically prayed for the unity of His people (John 17). Walk in the Light and love your brothers and sisters in Christ despite what tradition they associate with. This is elementary but apparently needs said.

With #Firefly in the news, I was reminded of a series of character commissions I did 13 years ago based on the show. I’ve changed a lot as an artist since then (moving back to my cartoonist roots), but I still kinda like these designs.
