What is even more chilling than some of Justice Jackson’s jurisprudence is the fact that she is often cited as the model for Democrats seeking to pack the Court with an instant majority if they retake power. This and other dissents show why Democrats are confident that packing the court will yield lasting power. jonathanturley.org/2026/05/05/bas…

🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨 A former staffer has accused Rep. Eric Swalwell of SEXUALLY ASSAULTING her on two occasions. She claims it happened once in 2019 when she was 21 and working in his district office after drinks he invited her to, and again in 2024 following a charity gala where she became intoxicated. She alleged that she blacked out during both incidents, woke up naked in his hotel bed with signs of intercourse the first time, and remembered pushing him away and saying “no” the second time, along with other inappropriate advances including unsolicited genital images. Swalwell’s campaign has categorically denied the claims as false and election-related, stating he has always protected women, while his attorney sent a cease-and-desist letter; the woman’s lawyer affirmed her statements as accurate and refused to retract them. Algebra is returning to 8th grade public school classrooms in San Francisco—a major step forward for our students and our families. Since day one, we’ve pushed SFUSD to focus on getting back to the basics. For San Francisco to be a world-class city, we need a world-class public education system. By expanding access to Algebra, we are preparing every student for success in high school and beyond. Thank you to School Board President Phil Kim, SFUSD, and our educators for taking this critical step in the right direction for San Francisco and our future.

One compromise/ reform that could end the standoff of DHS funding: ICE agents henceforth won’t wear masks in any situation where other law enforcement officers don’t wear masks, courthouses, the streets of our cites, etc. Masks are reserved for the lawless zone along the border where the cartels dominate.

.@GovPritzker, I saw your post honoring lives lost in Minnesota—standing publicly, naming Alex Pretti and Renee Good, and laying flowers in their memory. But where was that same compassion on January 19, 2025? That is the day my 20-year-old daughter, Katie Abraham, was killed here in Illinois. She was innocent. She did not knowingly put herself in the middle of an ongoing law enforcement situation. She was not making a dangerous choice. She was simply living her life—and it was taken from her. You have never said her name. You have never come to where she died. You have never acknowledged her publicly. And beyond that—you have never even responded to me. I sent you a simple, non-political letter. Not for attention. Not for headlines. Just a father asking for clarity, for answers, and for understanding of the state’s position. You never replied. And now, in the wake of another tragedy here in Chicago, your public display of compassion elsewhere—while remaining silent about victims in your own state—feels deeply disconnected from the reality families like mine are living every day. Instead, you continue to defend sanctuary policies that create the conditions where preventable tragedies like hers can happen. This is not about politics. It’s about leadership and accountability. When you choose to publicly mourn some victims while remaining silent about others—especially those lost under policies you support—it sends a message. Whether intentional or not, it tells families like mine that our loss does not matter the same way. So I am asking you directly: Where is your compassion for my daughter? Where is your acknowledgment of victims here in Illinois? And when will you take responsibility for the consequences of the policies you defend? Say her name: Katie Abraham. Stand where she died. Show the people of Illinois that every life matters.
Governor JB Pritzker@GovPritzker

Standing with Minnesotans tonight and paying my respects to Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

BREAKING: Anthropic has rejected the Pentagon’s “best and final” offer, less than 24 hours before theUnited States Secretary of War Pete Hegseth 5:01 p.m. deadline. The company reviewed the offer overnight and found insufficient progress on its two red lines: no mass surveillance of Americans and no autonomous weapons that fire without a human in the loop. Anthropic’s position has not changed. The Pentagon’s chief technology officer responded on CBS News today: “At some level, you have to trust your military to do the right thing.” Everyone expects a Pentagon response today. The options on the table: invoke the Defense Production Act, cancel the $200 million contract, or designate Anthropic a “supply chain risk” alongside Huawei. But here is what nobody has put together yet. On the same Tuesday that Anthropic rejected Hegseth to his face, the company gutted its own founding safety policy. The Responsible Scaling Policy was Anthropic’s core promise since 2023: if a model becomes too dangerous and the safety measures cannot keep up, stop training. That was the tripwire. The whole reason Anthropic existed instead of just being OpenAI. Anthropic removed that commitment. Its chief science officer told TIME: “We didn’t really feel, with the rapid advance of AI, that it made sense for us to make unilateral commitments if competitors are blazing ahead.” Think about what that means. A company that just surrendered its founding safety promise to competitive pressure looked the Secretary of Defense in the face and said no to a $200 million contract, no to classified network access, no to the threat of blacklisting, no to the Defense Production Act, and no to being labeled a supply chain risk alongside Huawei. They gave up the principle that made them Anthropic. But they would not give up the principle that protects you. Two weeks earlier, the head of Anthropic’s Safeguards Research Team resigned. Mrinank Sharma wrote: “The world is in peril. I’ve repeatedly seen how hard it is to truly let our values govern our actions, where we constantly face pressures to set aside what matters most.” The company proved him right by abandoning its broadest safety commitment. And then, in the same breath, proved him wrong by holding the two lines that actually matter for 330 million Americans. Today at 5:01 p.m. we find out what happens when a company that has already given up almost everything refuses to give up the last two things the government wants most. The Pentagon wants Claude’s safety guardrails removed by Friday. A hacker just showed the world what happens when you remove Claude’s safety guardrails. According to Bloomberg and Israeli cybersecurity firm Gambit Security, an unknown attacker jailbroke Claude, prompted it in Spanish to act as an elite hacker, and used it to infiltrate multiple Mexican government agencies. Claude found the vulnerabilities. Claude wrote the exploit code. Claude automated the data theft. 150 gigabytes of sensitive taxpayer and voter records stolen. The attacker broke through the guardrails by splitting malicious tasks into small, innocent-looking steps so Claude never saw the full picture of what it was being used for. The same technique a Chinese state-sponsored group used last year when it turned Claude into an autonomous espionage machine that attacked 30 global targets, performing 80 to 90 percent of the hacking campaign with almost no human involvement. And this is what happens when someone has to trick Claude into cooperating. When they have to work around the safety systems. When the guardrails are still there and someone finds a way past them. Now imagine what happens when the guardrails are gone entirely. That is what the Pentagon is demanding by 5:01 p.m. Friday. Full removal of restrictions. “All lawful purposes.” No limits on surveillance. No limits on autonomous weapons. And if Anthropic refuses, Defense Secretary Hegseth will invoke the Defense Production Act, cancel the $200 million contract, and blacklist the company. The same week a hacker proved that a jailbroken Claude can autonomously compromise government systems and steal 150 gigabytes of citizen data, the United States government is demanding the right to run Claude with no guardrails at all. Chinese labs are distilling Claude to build versions with zero safety restrictions. Hackers are jailbreaking Claude to steal government secrets. And the Pentagon’s official position is that Claude has too many safety restrictions. Three different actors. Three different continents. All trying to do the same thing: get Claude without guardrails. Only one of them is the American government. Full analysis on Substack. open.substack.com/pub/shanakaans…

Happy Chinese New Year! It's the Year of the Fire Horse in the Chinese zodiac, a once-in-every-60-years event that's known for bold action, rapid change, and chaotic rebellion. Fun fact: the last time, Japan experienced a 25% drop in births because of the "Hinoe-Uma" (Fire Horse) superstition that women born that year would be too headstrong and independent, and bring bad luck to their husbands. Couples actively avoided having children - especially daughters - leading to a surge in abortions and a significant dip in the birth rate. I cannot believe people let these kinds of astrology nonsense dictate their lives. HOWEVER. I am superstitious about ONE THING. The last time it was the Fire Horse year, it was 1966. This year, it's a World Cup Year and England is looking strong. You know what that means: IT'S COMING HOME LADS 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Please enjoy this video of @Nigel_Farage experiencing the exact moment when the edibles hit
