He argues the goal of passing the bill isn't to trust the current administration — it's to bind the next one. The CLARITY Act stalled in the Senate after banks, crypto firms, and lawmakers failed to agree on key provisions, including whether to allow stablecoin yields. Van Valkenburgh warned that without legislation, a future DOJ could ramp up prosecutions of privacy-tool developers as unlicensed money transmitters. He stressed that relying on friendly regulators today is not a long-term strategy for an industry that needs permanent legal protections.

No the bill enables a legal framework for crypto, exchanges, retail holders and institutions to hold, earn, stake and invest across the board. Plus wallet and infrastructure developers to be ratified so they're not screwed over by other legislation. This bill is important. But %3.5 on stable coin yield isnt.

🚨NEW: A staffer for @SenThomTillis (R-NC) tells me his office plans to publicly release legislative text next week detailing stablecoin yield/rewards provisions, as talks with stakeholders continue. The move comes after @coinbase and other crypto stakeholders were unsatisfied with the parameters of a deal shown to a small group of industry leaders earlier this week. Coinbase's Global Head of Investment Research @DavidDuong says industry leaders are currently working on a coordinated counterproposal "to explain why targeted changes are needed to protect customers and preserve sustainable rewards programs."

If Coinbase keeps trying to cancel the Clarity Act there wont be a law. There's only about 1 month before congress gets tied up with other activities and then the dems could take more congressional seats in the mid- terms. The dems have voiced support for delaying or reverting back to Gensler-style regulation on all crypto legislation going forward if they get a majority in either chamber. Your chances of getting a 'good' law grows slimmer by the day. Congratulations. Coinbase is the only company that works against itself.

morpho processing 2x aave volume on base with zero protocol fees and zero token incentives. organic growth without mercenary capital. the MORPHO token doesn't capture fees yet but governance controls the fee switch. when that activates the entire volume growth reprices instantly. 28k agents on base need programmatic lending markets and morpho is the only infrastructure that doesn't require human governance approval

If the CLARITY Act doesn’t reach the Senate floor by May, it’s probably dead until after the midterms. Coinbase knows that, and they’re stalling anyway because the compromise doesn’t work for them specifically. That’s not leadership, that’s putting one company’s interests ahead of the entire crypto industry, and everyone else is paying the price for it.

The banks are on board, the crypto industry is on board, the White House is on board, and President Trump wants the bill on his desk this spring. The only thing standing in the way of the CLARITY Act right now is Coinbase, because they care more about what’s good for Coinbase than what’s good for the crypto industry. One company should not be able to hold up legislation this important.
