Kannada-Brahmi and Tamil-Brahmi are ancient adaptations of the Brahmi script used to write major Dravidian languages. Evolving between the 3rd century BCE and 1st century CE, both scripts were adjusted with specialized characters to accommodate the unique phonetic sounds of early Kannada and Old Tamil. It was used across the Deccan Plateau, specifically in present-day Karnataka, from the 3rd century BCE up to the 4th century CE . Kannada-Brahmi directly evolved into the Hale Kannada (Old Kannada) script. The renowned Kadamba script emerged from this lineage, famously documented in the Halmidi inscription (450 CE). It utilized unique pulli (dots/diacritics) and additional consonants tailored to Old Kannada grammar, heavily distinguishing it from northern Brahmi variants. It contained specific characters to represent unique Kannada phonetics (like retroflex consonants), which eventually paved the way for the modern Kannada

@Putnanja_ Lol it's how it works in Dravidian langauges. Ha and Ba were never a thing in south indian languages. It happened when northies who migrated south, and couldn't pronounce these words. Karnataka region got the massive invasion from north and north west.

This is Jainism in South India . especially its profound, continuous, and distinctive presence in Karnataka and TamilNadu— is one of the most remarkable chapters in Indian religious and cultural history. Kannada-Brahmi and Tamil-Brahmi inscriptions (the earliest known writing system in South India) provide the strongest proof. Many of these are found in Jain rock shelters and caverns, especially around ancient Tamil centers like Madurai and its environs (e.g., Mangulam, Arittapatti, Alagarmalai, Sittanavasal area, Kilavalavu, etc.). These inscriptions often record donations of rock-cut beds or shelters to Jain monks by kings, merchants, or householders. They are among the earliest lithic records of Jainism anywhere in India and predate the Mauryan period.

Andhra Basic History: Andhras, The Fiercest Guardians to South of India and even of North for 2000+ years acted as North-South bridge. Satavahanas crushed the Sakas and Yavanas. Post, Andhra Ikshvaku, Shalankayana and Vishnukundina gave their best, while the Andhra Rowdy Pallavas conquered entire South from Kanchi till Kerala. Telugu Chodas too effed Tamil Cholas meanwhile. Suddenly Kakatiyas and Nayaks smashed the Khilji armies, alongside other Dravidians like the Chera, Chola, and Pandyas. In a while, Telugu Musunuri Nayaka warriors birthed the Vijayanagara Empire, the glorious of The Telugu Empire. Vijayanagara conquered till Sri Lanka while their successor Nayaks ensured more the merrier. Telugus, always rule. ⚔️ #Andhra #Telangana #TFI #OG #Telugu #History #India #History #Culture

A tribute to the people of Andhra Pradesh. 🙏 Do you know the depth of your roots? You are, it appears, the world's oldest surviving ethno-political identity, the oldest recorded tribe whose name and territory still survives. Respects!

@PonAdhavan @Ahavamalla It's common to most Dravidian languages, as shown below from the #DED (Dravidian Etymological Dictionary). Stop living in la la land! Both Ooru /[uːru] & ALivu / ar̤ivu belong to Kannada as much as they do to Tamil. #ಕನ್ನಡದ್ದೇ
