@Retro_Sanctuary @St1ka Sorry, you're correct. I was confusing Megapanel. Beyond Oasis has a lot of puzzle elements in it IIRC, but you're right that it's mostly a top-down adventure game. If we're not counting stuff that appears on multiple systems, both lose a lot from their library, to be fair.

@Pongtris @St1ka Panel De Pon is not on the Mega Drive, its made by Nintendo affiliate Intelligent Systems. Beyond Oasis is an Action-Adventure game like Link to the Past or Illusion of Time. Wild Snake is on the SNES. Don't know about Megapanel, I'll have to check that one out.

@Retro_Sanctuary @St1ka Genesis has Panel De Pon (Tetris Attack), Beyond Oasis, Mega Bomberman, Marble Madness, Puyo Puyo, Columns, Sonic Spinball, Pepenga Pengo, Mega Panel, Wild Snake... I don't think it's as one sided as it's made out to be.

@Pongtris @St1ka Yup puzzle is a curbstomp. SNES has Bust-A-Move, Tetris Attack, Goof Troop, Troddlers, Puyo Puyo, Lemmings, more Bomberman's, Spindizzy Worlds, Pieces, Pushover etc etc. MD has a much better port of Lemmings, also has Puyo Puyo... Columns? One of the many ports of Klax? Blockout?

@mazestalker That trap of "just one more feature" is very real. My rule is typically to ask myself if a new feature feels like fluff, polish, or if it ties into other systems. This looks to land in that third category, which means it's a solid addition.

@KrakenCombo Windows Defender has sent me down a performance-chasing rabbit hole probably a dozen times, only to realize the game is running like ass because Windows decided it needed to scan it in real time 500 times per frame. I disabled that pos and just use manual scans. It's trash.

Spent the whole morning trying to import an old Unity project that would freeze my whole PC, had to restart like 20 times. Checked RAM. Checked GPU. It was Windows Defender all along. It's just malware at this point man.

Quick pass through Pongtris DX’s multilingual menus. Language switching is working in-game, CJK wrapping is behaving, and most of the game's text is pulled from external localization files now. One more chunk of release polish down. #gamedev #indiedev

@henrystephdev You should be able to launch and test under Linux if you use VirtualBox, VMWare or Hyper-V under Windows. They won't be perfect representations of real performance, but they can be good enough for testing with VT-X enabled in BIOS. That's what I use anyway.

@Pongtris I'm trying to see that, but otherwise I would try to find a small, inexpensive second-hand Mac on OS15 if possible to manage this part. Linux I already have but I can't launch the builds (virtual machine) we'll see in the next update I do.

Currently setting up a virtual machine to have Linux readily available and export from it, allowing more people to try my games and prototypes. The only downside is that I don't have macOS, unfortunately. I'd love to buy the Mac mini M4, but I don't have the money for it #gamedev #indiedev

@o_sneedy Most video game shotguns have a spread of like 3' at 3 meters away. The reality is closer to ~0.75" of spread per yard. Lower with high quality ammo or a choke on the barrel. They would be banned or nerfed for being OP if they were realistic at all.

@St1ka Not sure about elsewhere, but in the US, artificial banana used in candy was made by someone who has seemingly never eaten a banana. It's the same with grape. Candy grape doesn't generally taste much like real grape. It's closer than banana though. Meanwhile, in Japan...

Following my earlier post, I got custom ball and block shader loading added to Pongtris DX. Drop fragment shaders, with optional paired vertex shaders, into the shader folder. Restart the game, and the shader selection extends to include your custom shaders. #indiedev #gamedev

Added per-model shader overrides to Pongtris DX. You can use custom vertex and fragment shaders, assign them to specific background modes, and override the defaults. The model still animates as before, but now you can bring your own shaders. #indiedev #gamedev

@monstertheaterx That's absurd, honestly. For $5000 I would expect a minimum of 500k views and a conversion rate of at least 10%. They ain't offering that, almost guaranteed. I honestly can't wait for the influencer thing to die off. It has created a toxic and predatory community.

Pongtris DX localization is now working in-game. Still cleaning up font sizes and formatting, but the game is officially getting multilingual. Not as exciting as watching the AI juggle a dozen flaming balls through neon tetrominos, but still worth showing. #gamedev #indiedev

@BeatemupsWood To be fair, it does get tiring seeing remakes, and they often don't have just QoL changes, they change the game feel. MGS Delta for example has some new moves and controls, but movement feels heavy compared to OG MGS3. Still, not a bad thing to bring them new players.
