Idk how they do it there, but at DFW you couldn’t drive anywhere near the runways w/o an escort; even emergency services. I got to ride shotgun once w/ one and they have insane radio setups to monitor ATC comms. Seems these guys were in a little too much of a hurry.

🚨Chilling surveillance footage has emerged showing the moment Air Canada Flight AC8646 collided with a Port Authority fire truck on the runway at LaGuardia Airport (LGA) last night. Authorities have confirmed that both pilots were killed in the crash. Dozens of passengers, along with the two fire truck occupants, were injured and transported to nearby hospitals. The airport remains closed as the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) begins its investigation into the deadly incident. Incident Summary • Flight: Air Canada Express AC8646 (operated by Jazz Aviation) from Montreal • Casualties: Captain and First Officer died; 40+ others hurt • Cause: Preliminary information and ATC audio indicate the fire truck was responding to a separate “odor” emergency involving a United Airlines flight and had been cleared to cross the runway, leading to the collision

When people talk about stealth aircraft performing air combat, it’s often stuck in the mindset of 4th Gen fights or simply fighting an inferior enemy. People love to taut on about how great stealth is, but always fail to think about what happens when the enemy is also stealthy.

This is actually a concern. Stealth tech will proliferate eventually. There's at least one or two patents out there for micro-missiles that can fit 20 at a time into the weapons bays of current 5th-gens but only go 10-20nm or so.

@planefag Dogfighting is increasingly irrelevant these days but I guess if one of the Su-57s somehow ends up in a fight with an F-35 it might wind up being a dogfight because everybody is in a stealth fighter.

@Warmind_2 @2ltSierra I’ve told her that she should make comparisons to better illuminate things; present a more analytical picture, but I think she just had so many detractors (it was the height of NAFO at this time) that she doubled down on only presenting Soviet info.

@PrezGHz @2ltSierra I was wondering if I was the only one who thought that. Her videos are good, all told, and shed light on the side usually derided by retards, but there's clearly a NATO blind spot, and it really shows in her community especially.

@AnimarchyYT It really depends. If you start barking up the right tree, people will accuse you of not knowing what you're talking about and that it's impossible to know what you know b/c it's Le Top Sekrit. I had to change my handle so people would stop dismissing my input b/c I play DCS.

If this and the last blow up has taught me anything. It’s that I am staying in aviation YouTube. It’s safe here, the autists here just flex about how much we spend on books and how good our SLR camera is for the absolute top-tier cringe that is our plane spotting addictions.
