Favorite memory of Dougie: Scoring the OT goal in Game 3 against the Rangers which kickstarted our series comeback. Dougie also kickstarted our rebuild by signing here when no one else wouldn’t. Something has to give though. It’s time.

@PierreVLeBrun Dougie has become our 3rd best option to run the powerplay. His defensive game is horrible. Hasn’t scored, hasn’t played well. Realistically he is the 4th best RHD on the team. They can’t win games, you can’t run him out there just cause he has a contract. He’s been bad.

Reached out to Dougie Hamilton’s agent J.P. Barry. His response: “Dougie was informed today that he will be not be playing now that Kovacevic is back in the lineup. In our view, this decision is all about business rather than his game right now. Singling him out seems very calculated at this stage. Dougie has a 10-team trade list and there have been efforts to trade him going back to the draft last year. We have made it clear to the Devils that we will consider teams outside our list and other creative ways to get to a team that is mutually acceptable.” So Hamilton camp willing to be flexible beyond 10-team list if it means finding suitable team in a trade.

@LockedOnDevils I mean to be honest we all wanted Timo extended. And Bratt. And Jack. He did do all of that. So single worst? I feel like that’s an extreme reaction even if we’re not where we want to be right now.

I can’t really look at this #NJDevils season in a bubble when it’s the culmination of several years’ worth of poor decisions. I truly think we’re going to look back at Fitzgerald’s NJ tenure as one of the single worst GMing jobs in the modern era once this is all said and done.

For some reason I cringe when the Devils are getting destroyed early on and one of the announcers say "still a lot of hockey left." It's like when I was the shortest kid in my middle school and my dad said "Still a lot of time to grow."

I don't claim to know what goes on in an NHL locker room, but it feels like the Q. Hughes debacle has soured things. Guys were asked to waive no move clauses and declined. Luke and Jack wanted their brother here and our GM failed to deliver. I can't imagine it's a fun room.

@Arny651636 @JMC9787 It would take a remarkable turnaround and players who have been terrible for stretches would have to step up. It's possible but unlikely.

@JMC9787 They will miss the playoffs. Just look at their schedule coming up. This team ain't making it if they continue to have Tom and Sheldon, leading the team.

If the Devils do miss the playoffs, there will need to be sweeping changes. That means GM, head coach, at least one or two big roster changes, etc. This entire group clearly isn’t it if they can’t even make the playoffs when healthy.

@JMC9787 I don't think any Devils fan (even me who is one of the most blindly optimistic fans of the bunch) would disagree with that. We ran an experiment and it failed. It's ok to move on and try something else.

@DebraSmith64872 It's crazy because I was a Fitz supporter for so much longer than a lot of people. I was pumped about the offseason moves too. I felt like we were in a good place. But the experiment is failing. Yes, we've been injured like crazy but I'm not longer using that excuse.
