On behalf of Malaysia, I extend our deepest condolences to the people of Pakistan, who mourn this senseless and devastating loss.
These acts of utter ruthlessness and violence, targeting both civilians and security personnel, are stark reminders of the relentless threats posed by extremism and ideological rigidity — forces that undermine progress and peace in Muslim societies.
Malaysia stands firmly in solidarity with the Government of Pakistan in its steadfast fight against terrorism.

I extend my heartiest congratulations to Nobel Laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus on his appointment as Chief Adviser of the interim government of Bangladesh. His vast experience promises to guide the nation with wisdom and integrity.
As a new dawn rises over Bangladesh, bringing forth a renewal driven by the vigour and vision of its youth, I am reminded of the immortal words of the great Bengali painter-poet-philosopher Rabindranath Tagore: “Where the mind is led forward by thee into ever-widening thought and action; Into that heaven of freedom, my father, let my country awake.”
At this pivotal moment in history, I wish the people of Bangladesh every success and the brightest of futures.

I am deeply saddened by the tragic deaths of President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and several other officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran. My heartfelt condolences go out to the people of Iran during this profoundly difficult time. May Allah bless their souls and place them among the Righteous.
I had the honour of meeting President Raisi on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly last November. He exemplified a deep commitment to the welfare of his people and the dignity of his nation, which represents a proud and rich civilisation rooted in the principles of Islam. His dedication to justice, peace, and the upliftment of the ummah was truly inspiring. We committed ourselves to bolstering Malaysia-Iran relations, working together for the betterment of our peoples and the Muslim world. Our pledge will be fulfilled.

Until August (Gabriel Garcia Marquez)
On the flight home from Hamburg, after a hectic, punishing but highly productive official visit to Germany, I read Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s posthumous novel - Until August.
Saddled with the voluminous reports and briefs that are foisted on a PM to peruse - and digest - it’s an amazing feat that I could actually finish reading this latest and the very last of Gabo’s literary treasures! The fact that it’s only about 130 pages, substantive notes included, helped considerably although I’m not making excuses for slacking off in my reading regimen.
‘Until August’ is a fine read albeit failing to rise to the lofty heights of Gabo’s greatest but I’m not complaining: the classic traits of a great novel still remain, particularly the art of spinning the yarn. It’s the kind of story telling that renders us captive and unable to put the book down. Reminds me of Coleridge’s Rime of the Ancient Mariner.
Leggo, ergo sum!

Anyone who seeks to restore peace must stop the aggression against Gaza. This is the only way this will all stop. In this matter, the Houthis (Ansarullah) are not the real problem.
