It's still a WIP, but here's a breakdown of the shader setup behind the tear effect, along with a semi-low-res screenshot of the full graph. Sorry for the rough presentation. 😅 #UE5 #VFX #FPS

@Lutumo_ddd We actually have it running through a flipbook, so it can support tearing animations as well as provide multiple static variations for placement throughout the level.

@ProjectNACS It looks impressive. I think if you made animation of breaking, it would be even cooler than a static tear.🥂

@ProjectNACS Looks neat! Excited to see whether this makes a cool collectable to fix along the way or story-related prop like in Celeste chapter 9

Yeah, that’s what I’m aiming for. Since NACS is a fast-paced co-op roguelike, I want the boss to make players move, talk to each other, and actually use their abilities instead of just standing there shooting. I’m trying to make each attack push a different kind of reaction, like spreading out, helping a teammate, using mobility, or knowing when it’s safe to go in for damage. As long as the attacks are readable, players should feel like they can learn the fight and get better at it each run.

@ProjectNACS Sounds exciting! Blocking out attacks is crucial for balancing. I’d love to see how you’re thinking about player strategies and counterplays in this encounter.
