So no, it was not 25% of a weeks work, it was 8%. Today, Mantle would probably do a show, and it would be a min of $750. So yeah, it was ridiculously cheaper to obtain autographs in 1983 after factoring in for inflation and buying power now vs. then.

It’s 1993 and you can get Hank Aaron’s autograph for $25 or Willie Mays for $30. I do remember getting Mickey Mantle for $25 around 1983 or 1984. Joe DiMaggio was $30. Gold base ball holder was mandatory equipment back then.
