@Kidsdoc1Rick @DrDougMackMD @PedsAllergyDoc What if it is used specifically because of the sedative effect, as an OTC sleep aid? Is it just that it's bad as an antihistamine due the sedation, or is it just bad all round?

Why is this still on pharmacy shelves? 2nd generation antihistamines like Claritin are safer, longer acting and more effective. If it’s in your home throw it out. @DrDougMackMD @PedsAllergyDoc

@1goodtern I've noticed it more and more in myself the last couple of years. I live alone plus work is hybrid WFH so that definitely contributes to it. I've only recently started to reflect on exactly what's behind it.

Ok, I have a weird question. Have you noticed any increase in the number of people who are fundamentally unable to end a conversation?

@danaparish @nikkiteschner @EoinHiggins_ Thank you. I somehow had the impression the measles vaccine was effective enough to be considered sterilizing. And before now I had never heard anybody describe an asymptomatic acute phase with measles. (Is it correct to refer to it as the acute phase if there are no symptoms?)

@RGSAllen @nikkiteschner @EoinHiggins_ It’s not a sterilizing vaccine so actually vaccinated can spread it, even if they are not symptomatic.

This is the trade off anti-vaxxers are eager, even excited, to make—your child’s potential death at age seven in exchange for them not vaccinating their children

@nikkiteschner @danaparish @EoinHiggins_ Came here to say exactly this. There are at least two people involved in any infection. From a vaccine perspective, in this case one of them had no choice and one made the wrong choice.

@danaparish @EoinHiggins_ Sure, but he wouldn’t have contracted it if those around him were inoculated. Heard immunity is possible for measles; the vaccine also protects those who can’t get vaccinated against it yet or ever.

@alekhines_gun @frogess33 @kananaskinyeti HIV 100% There are well-known diagnostics and treatments for HIV. I cannot carelessly pass HIV along to others simply by being in the same room. Much less gaslighting from medical professionals. My actual choice is neither so I take sensible precautions against both.
