@TB1Kinobe I worked on a public broadcast warning system for hurricanes and tornadoes. We tried to take it to DC and make a nationwide alerting system. It became the IPAWS system that allows the president to spam your phone - I am sorry.

25 years ago after engineering school I was involved in a residential construction project where speed was the focus. I did not know the scale or how widespread it would get. None of us did We were young. I have been out of it for over 10 years now with the deepest regrets of contributing to this process at a high level. I don't care if anyone sees this or even gets one like I just wanted to say I'm sorry.

You can't have nice things in America because of Niggas like this. This is why Black people are surprised when they go to a White area and see things not locked up and behind bulletproof glass.

At least 200 Merkava MBTs were lost in a battle for one small village in Southern Lebanon, as well as countless armored vehicles. The Israelis have had years to study the war in Ukraine. Yet, they made all the same mistakes that BOTH the Ukrainians and Russians made at the start of the Ukraine War. WTF is wrong with modern Western armies today?

@BenjaminDEKR Most people will be better off not owning a car. The time and space taken by parking is a loss to life enjoyment. Most people will take autonomous taxis.

In Elon's utopia where "everyone can have a penthouse," can everyone have a Tesla? 🤔 When does that start? Why not show how well this works with his own products? (Being serious. If his scenario is real, isn't this the next step? So, when?)

@internetguy420 @shawmakesmagic Why would consumer spending continue at all ? When all products and services fall to near zero cost where would you spend money ?

@shawmakesmagic Corporate profit CANNOT exceed gov+consumer spending, its literally impossible. The idea that "taxes on the huge ai profits" will fund nearly all consumer spending its just wrong. You'd have to tax nearly all corporate profits, and the economy collapses. UHI is impossible

@4nt1p4tt3rn The definition of a singularity is that you are unable to predict what exist on the other side of the event horizon. Its called a social singularity because we cannot predict whats on the other side - will it be communism ? nobody knows or can predict.

Elon’s UBI makes perfect sense if we remain in control of AI. AI will make human labor obsolete, but by doing so it will make capital investments much more valuable. A government taxing capital at the same rate could easily have enough revenue to pay a large UBI to all citizens. That would not necessarily cause inflation. The main problem is that once the AIs are superintelligent, there is no reason for them to bother giving resources to humans. But if we can overcome that problem, we’re set.

@Tomi_Tapio @gfodor The point is the startup doesn't have to make a profit, it does not have to be successful because UBI is paying the bills and AGI/robots are doing the work. It means the startup and your job in it is a hobby.

Imagine the prices of all goods and services were slashed by 1000x, but if you tried to find a job, raise money for a startup, or sell anything yourself you’d find no counterparty whatsoever. Now imagine that’s true for most people. What’s the logical solution to this?

Let’s unpack UBI for a moment. No it will not just be handed to you. It will barely enough to pay rent and buy basic groceries, that’s it. The rich will enjoy restaurants, holidays and travel. Before qualifying for UBI, dependent on your strength, you will either be shipped to work in a data centre or enrolled in the military. If you disagree with the government your UBI will be removed, perhaps you will only qualify for UBI if you agree to have four children. This is beyond dystopian.

A MASSIVE U.S. military airlift is underway right now! The U.S. Air Force is SURGING assets into the Middle East while the Iranian regime continues to BLUFF about negotiations. President Trump is watching them closely. The era of American weakness is OVER. Do NOT mess with 47! 🇺🇸🔥

Actually the argument for the electoral college is that it puts a hard limit on the gains from election fraud. One state can pump their "popular vote" numbers way up with fraud, but can only affect their own electors.
James Surowiecki@JamesSurowiecki

There's no good civic argument for the electoral college. It was arguably necessary to ensure the ratification of the Constitution, but it's an anti-democratic device that gives some American citizens far more voting power than others, based purely on where they live.

If you take at face value that the real reason we went into Iran was to limit China's access to oil, you have to ask, 'what did we get for it?' The issue is that the 'we' doesn't include the American people. The beneficiaries are US oil/natural gas and defense companies.

After a 14-year run, a Tesla factory that once built Model S cars is now gearing up to mass‑produce humanoid Optimus robots, with a goal of 1M units per year by 2027. This is part of Elon's “autonomous future”, but feels more like the start of a corny 2004 Will Smith movie.
