@aaronbronsteter I feel like this is a moot point. Of course there will always be people to go to the extremes and say “the first round wasn’t close”, but saying that the first round, despite being close, should have been scored to Murphy is not a stretch by any means.

I think that Belal raises a great point here. Expectancy bias plays a role in the perception of a fight. “Movsar isn’t wrestling, so he’s losing” was a narrative that I was guilty of falling into yesterday. Can’t say the same for the judges cage side, which is a good sign.

Everyone shits on Indian mma fighters but no one talks about how China (whom I love deeply) has produced one good fighter and she wasn’t even that good

@Tanthiram @fenoxsky It's funny because he's so much more successful than Wood but if he was, like Wood, able to pivot or weave into counters instead of backing all the way to the fence every time, he would have most likely won this fight with ease.

Yeah that's a draw for me, you can argue for a round 3 for Murphy which would give him the fight. It was a cool fight but these versions of these guys have nothing for a good version of Volk or 145 Topuria. A clear step below champion level.

@joannadangerfd Movsar had one of the most baffling gameplans of all time, arguably lost three rounds and a point before starting to shoot takedowns, and then mauled Murphy who seemed to injure himself late into round 4, somehow got away with the decision and now thinks he's a fantastic striker.

@ThisIsNotDSP @RyanAWagMMA I scored it a draw as well, but like, it’s a draw/Murphy win. It’s insane to think that the worst gameplan of all time combined with a point deduction on the opponents country and still resulted it a win for Evloev.

Movsar win is a fine score. He rocked Murphy at the end of R3, landed a couple big counters and body kicks in R2, and Murphy didn't do much of anything. Unbelievable underperformance though, totally insane

Riley is very much like Pimblett in relying on a huge frame for the division to make his style work, but I do really like the head movement into body punches.

I never really rated Dolidze but this man absolutely forgot how to fight.

@fenoxsky Campbell is one of those funny fighters with strong kicks and nice takedowns but no clue what to do in boxing range. They gave him a boxer lol.

@RyanAWagMMA It's one of those funny decisions that everybody is saying "dang that was a very very close fight I don't envy the judges" but everybody also has the exact same result. Extremely competitive but scoring it for Keita is pushing it.

29x28 Wood for me. Amazing job navigating the speed/power advantage that Keita had, standing his ground, countering nicely and chopping the legs.
