Having met some of these artists the answer is simple: Talentless people make talentless art. They're CONVINCED they're good artists but never learn anything beyond generic minimalist tricks. Would you buy this epic fantasy? Seems to me Tolkien was right.

I have no idea why traditional publishers try to make every cover as lame as possible. It’s not *that* expensive, but they are determined to make every title look like it’s been edited together by a knock-off photoshop.

I don't want to defend clap stomp hey music, its kitsch. But there was a certain honesty to it that quickly vanished in the layers of irony of the late 2010s. It was like a teenager's corny poem to their crush. People now don't sing about love in this immediate way anymore

Funny gamedev rule: Beginners make tutorials. Experts don't make tutorials, they work. Even writing devlogs is a serious time investment when your time is valuable. You're saying I could earn ALMOST $200/month making youtube videos? Great for unemployed beginners, not me.

Once you get to intermediate / advanced level in game development you start to see how there's very little tutorials on these topics and the internet is littered with beginner tutorials all teaching pretty much the same thing.
