Carter Parson(@Real_CP1 )is a shifty combo guard who can heat up in a hurry, the type that only needs a sliver of space before the net starts snapping, and while he shoots the three at a high clip, that is only the opening act of a much deeper offensive arsenal. He is fierce on both ends, active hands in passing lanes, quick laterally, and on offense he is a true three level scorer who can glide by you off the bounce or rise up and make you pay if you sag, all while carrying a team first mindset that shows in the way he delivers timely dimes just as naturally as he scores. He is the total package, and when it is me across from him, that changes the temperature of the possession entirely. Old school magic does not give airspace, it bodies up, crowds the handle, bumps cutters, and takes away angles to make every dribble feel heavy, forcing a scorer to earn every inch against real contact and real pressure, the kind that has been setting the tone since 1998. There is no rhythm allowed, no casual setup, just physical defense designed to test poise and patience. So he walks it down on me like he is baiting that aggression, calm and measured, rocking the ball side to side while studying my feet, giving one slow between the legs just to see how tight I will creep. I step up, closing the gap the way I always do, and that is exactly what he wants because the sudden hard crossover that follows snaps my hips just enough to make me open for half a second, not blown by, not embarrassed, just shifted enough to create space that did not look available. He plants strong just inside the arc with no fade and no drift, rising straight up with balanced, controlled elevation over my fully extended hand as I recover from that split second of displacement. His eyes never leave the rim, elbow locked, release high and clean, and the mid range jumper drops smooth without forcing the moment. It is not flash, it is not luck, it is footwork, timing, and composure under pressure, the kind of possession that shows growth and control against physical defense. I nod because he earned that one, but old school magic never forgets, never stops adjusting, and never empties the bag too early. The deep arsenal stays ready, the physicality does not fade, and the world famous two inch vertical still rises when it has to, because when he wins one clean like that, it does not end the battle, it just sets the stage for the next possession to matter even more. @DDSportsNetwork

Today was my first official visit to Pikeville High School, and they did it big, hosting The Bucket Mystro Jacob Spurlock (@JSpur2026) and @boydbasketball in a matchup that had real buzz attached to it. It was also my first live season game, getting to see Jackson Keene(@Jack_Keene2026), Carter Parsons (@Real_CP1), and Grant Hall share the court, but Boyd County came in ready to snatch every bit of that spotlight. Carter Parsons set the tone early, came out smoking hot, and helped Pikeville jump in front 24-14 after 1. Then Jackson Keene started turning up the volume, attacking with purpose, making the right reads, and stacking buckets in a hurry, and by halftime Pikeville had built a 43-31 lead. This one was physical and not for the faint of heart. Every possession came with contact. Every drive had a body attached to it. Grant Hall’s defense stayed relentless all game, locked into the dirty work, talking, rotating, competing on every single touch, and doing what he always does when the lights are on. Jacob was forced to work for everything, no clean catches, no casual looks, every touch contested, every shot earned, and most of them coming through contact with arms hanging off him. That’s respect, because you do not play him straight up and survive, so Pikeville made him battle for every inch. Boyd County still had answers. Ethan Rardon(@ERardon2026) made a real impact on both ends with timely offense and disruptive energy, and Malichi Payne completed that three-headed monster that kept Boyd dangerous no matter the score. They kept punching, kept answering, kept looking for the next run, and they never backed down from the contact. But this was Pikeville’s day. They exploded in the 3rd, opened up a quick 20-point lead, and it looked like they were about to run away and hide. Boyd refused to go quietly, though, and the second half turned into a war of runs, push after push, answer after answer. Every time Boyd tried to close the gap, Pikeville hit back with another response, another stop, another bucket, another momentum swing, and they closed it out with a strong 85-73 win. Jackson Keene led all scorers with 28 points while adding 8 rebounds, 2 steals, and 3 assists, a complete night that matched the moment. Carter Parson finished with 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals, setting the tone with early fire and keeping it burning with defense. Grant Hall added 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 jaw-dropping dimes, and his defensive edge never let up for a second. The X factor was Cole Slone(@coleslone10), who delivered 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 steal, the type of production that flips close games into separation. For Boyd County, Jacob fought through the physicality and still led his team with 22 points, 14 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals, putting numbers on the board while getting the full attention of the defense on every touch. Malichi Payne added 18 points, and Ethan Rardon finished with 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals, giving Boyd steady impact and keeping the fight alive until the final horn. This was one of those games where the gym demanded toughness. Pikeville brought the edge early, took the hit when Boyd made their run, and never lost control of the response. Boyd brought the fight, made it a battle, and made Pikeville earn every bit of it. @DDSportsNetwork @NextUpRecruits @JosephDecker23 @BigBlueDylan

Parsons Ties Pikeville History with Record-Setting Shooting Night History was made in the maroon and white! Pikeville senior guard Carter Parsons delivered a performance for the ages, tying the Pikeville High School single-game record for made three-point field goals by knocking down 11 triples against Rowan County in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Pikeville Invitational Tournament, finishing the contest with a whopping 40 points!! Parsons was simply unconscious from beyond the arc, burying shot after shot and stretching the defense to its breaking point. His 11 made threes match the school record originally set by Rylee Samons (Class of 2023), who accomplished the feat during the 2022 PIT against Teays Valley Christian (WV). What made the night even more special was the stage. With tournament intensity, a packed gym, and momentum swinging on every possession, Parsons rose to the moment and put on a shooting clinic — the kind of performance fans will talk about for years. Records don’t fall often at Pikeville High School, and when they do, it takes something extraordinary. On this night, Carter Parsons delivered exactly that — precision, confidence, and poise — etching his name alongside one of the program’s all-time great shooting performances. Eleven threes. One historic night. #HailPikeville 🐾
