@BOSSportsGordo I see no reason not to attribute blame to ownership. Salary dumping Devers is on ownership and setting financial restrictions during a pivotal off-season before anyone has been signed is on ownership as well.
English

Ownership has signed off on three nine-figure deals in the last calendar year. They gave the FO the green light to spend money and trade future assets this winter. Highest payroll in team history, 6th highest CBT number in baseball.
Blame em for Mookie, full throttle, everything ‘20-‘24. It was awful. But going from last year’s product to this year’s is on others before it’s on ownership.

Looks like John Henry definitely heard the “sell the team” chants last night…
English

@joonlee Of every poor choice these past years, this one upsets me the most. It's made worse by them telling the world they weren't going to put him in this position mere months before promptly putting him in this position.
English

Something I keep thinking about is how the Red Sox of years past let their top prospects grow into leadership roles. Pedroia and Bogaerts as prime examples.
Red Sox are putting Roman Anthony into such a tough spot. A 21-year old expected to not just be a star, but the savior.
Tyler Milliken@tylermilliken_
Another rough Roman Anthony throw.
English

@jonvankin @_TyAnderson Ohhhh sorry man, I thought it normal to judge ownership on their financial decisions and the deals that have already been made.
In that case yeah this ownership group has money and who knows, next year they could spend that money on a worse free agent market than last offseason
English

@RedSoxSlave @_TyAnderson I'm not into relitigating deals that have already been made. FWIW neither Devers or Bregman are exactly off to scorching starts. If they were on the Red Sox right now, fans would be up in arms about them too.
English

@jonvankin @_TyAnderson Competitive windows in baseball eb and flow. Great teams recognize a window of opportunity and maximize winning potential accordingly. Tell me, with Roman and Celo breaking into the bigs, did you feel salary dumping Devers and nickel and diming Bregman in FA helped or hurt?
English

@jonvankin @_TyAnderson They are 20.4 million over the base threshold. 400k over the first surcharge threshold. If you're planning to exceed that threshold you can spend up to $264M without incurring new penalties.
Why remain right at $244M if not to dip under that threshold at the deadline?
English

@jonvankin @_TyAnderson It's their unwillingness to exceed tax thresholds, even during seasons where the team is expected to be competitive, that has forced the front office to move on from players like Betts and Devers and fail to sign big fish free agents to long term deals. They're astoundingly cheap
English

@jonvankin @_TyAnderson This is the narrative ownership loves that fans will buy into. It's disingenuous.
Despite the 6th highest payroll, the organization has one of the lowest percentages of revenue reinvested to payroll in all of baseball
English

@JeetTendencies @timbhealey Anthony isn't even close to a bust so consider taking a breath before saying random shit.
The failure is on ownership and Breslow for shipping Devers out, failing to bring Bregman back and not signing the "big bat". 21 year old kids shouldn't have to save their franchise.
English

@timbhealey The kid is a Fucking Bust
You clowns that thought a 21 year old kid was gonna save a franchise is a joke & their opinion on baseball should never be validated ever again
English

@redsoxstats The strangest thing about Craig is that he was a former player, yet talks as if players are just numbers on a spreadsheet and he's a middle manager for a fortune 500
English

@sadUTDfan @redsoxstats Calling out a player who did the appropriate thing to take pressure off of anyone is poor management. An honest conversation with Roman about why they're confident in him has the same effect without throwing anyone under the bus. Poor communication always creates a bad culture
English

@redsoxstats i think Cora is just trying to take a little pressure off of Roman, who is having a rough go of it out there so far.
i do disagree with him there tho. Whitlock was lined up where he was supposed to be imo. it wouldn’t even be a conversation if the throw was even remotely close
English

In the postgame, Cora called out Whitlock for not backing up this play. Sorry to those I called out, I guess. I really don't get why he would be bpositioned behind or on that side of home.
Stats@redsoxstats
Doesn't matter much, but the complaining about Whitlock not backing up the catcher is crazy. He was clearly exactly where he should have been and went there immediately. Mad he wasn't by the Brewers' on-deck circle makes no sense.
English

@Jared_Carrabis Imagine if we were capable of preventing runs and this was a walk off
English

@bobsacamano165 @WillFlemming Again, just don't watch if it stresses you out so much. There's no greater statement you can make to ownership than not viewing, attending or following these games. Come back when they have an off-season you feel good about or Henry finally sells. Not sure what else to tell ya
English

@RedSoxSlave @WillFlemming Maybe you’re right. It's been 7 years since they looked like a legitimate playoff team but this could be the year!!! We’ll just ignore the fact that only 14 teams that started 2-7 have made the playoffs in the hundred years.
English

@Dunkintern There's not being a fit and there's being murdered by your teammate a week after signing
English

@Jared_Carrabis Nothing egregious at all… just talked shit about Durbin….
English

@Jared_Carrabis Elite run prevention. It's a privilege to see this level of play in action
English

@jayhaykid I fear all he knows is pitching development and breathing
English

@danman3791 @Jared_Carrabis I'm not totally unconvinced he won't start beating the shit out of his own brother if he's hit in the ribs his next at bat
English

@Jared_Carrabis Imagine if his brother wasn’t on the other team to calm him down. Willson would have tried to light the entire Brewers team on fire
English
