If Cora doesn't talk to Story about moving to 2B so Celo can play SS, he should be fired. Breslow should be removed from POBO and transitioned to pitching director asap. Ownership should absolutey sell. They've discovered they profit off failure and will never try to improve

@BOSSportsGordo I see no reason not to attribute blame to ownership. Salary dumping Devers is on ownership and setting financial restrictions during a pivotal off-season before anyone has been signed is on ownership as well.

Ownership has signed off on three nine-figure deals in the last calendar year. They gave the FO the green light to spend money and trade future assets this winter. Highest payroll in team history, 6th highest CBT number in baseball. Blame em for Mookie, full throttle, everything ‘20-‘24. It was awful. But going from last year’s product to this year’s is on others before it’s on ownership.

@joonlee Of every poor choice these past years, this one upsets me the most. It's made worse by them telling the world they weren't going to put him in this position mere months before promptly putting him in this position.

Something I keep thinking about is how the Red Sox of years past let their top prospects grow into leadership roles. Pedroia and Bogaerts as prime examples. Red Sox are putting Roman Anthony into such a tough spot. A 21-year old expected to not just be a star, but the savior.

In that case yeah this ownership group has money and who knows, next year they could spend that money on a worse free agent market than last offseason

@RedSoxSlave @_TyAnderson I'm not into relitigating deals that have already been made. FWIW neither Devers or Bregman are exactly off to scorching starts. If they were on the Red Sox right now, fans would be up in arms about them too.

@jonvankin @_TyAnderson They are 20.4 million over the base threshold. 400k over the first surcharge threshold. If you're planning to exceed that threshold you can spend up to $264M without incurring new penalties. Why remain right at $244M if not to dip under that threshold at the deadline?

@jonvankin @_TyAnderson It's their unwillingness to exceed tax thresholds, even during seasons where the team is expected to be competitive, that has forced the front office to move on from players like Betts and Devers and fail to sign big fish free agents to long term deals. They're astoundingly cheap

@redsoxstats i think Cora is just trying to take a little pressure off of Roman, who is having a rough go of it out there so far. i do disagree with him there tho. Whitlock was lined up where he was supposed to be imo. it wouldn’t even be a conversation if the throw was even remotely close

In the postgame, Cora called out Whitlock for not backing up this play. Sorry to those I called out, I guess. I really don't get why he would be bpositioned behind or on that side of home.
