@AJamesMcCarthy C’mon … Nobody who’s watched the footage again in the 21st Century and seen the President’s phone call believes we ever went to the moon now - Even Buzz has admitted 3 times in public now that they “it never happened” Pics are awesome though 👍

Due to the volume of people asking- I wanted to illustrate where you can find the Apollo landing sites on my GigaMoon image- complete with zooming down to see the landers

@rmstein @rustybrick @OfficialLoganK Can you make it easier to avoid so-called "AI" for those who *don't* want it? For now I'm setting my default search to use &udm=14 but it's a clumsy workaround.

Motley Fool using cheesy generative automation and nobody's eyeballing the results. Five legged bull with a mutant paw and what the hell is it with its tongue?

@lproven Large language models are a dead end, but calling them "current AI" is buying into the con.

Does current AI represent a dead end? bcs.org/articles-opini… Eerke Boiten, Professor of Cyber Security at De Montfort University Leicester, explains his belief that current AI should not be used for serious applications.

@DellTech Email or SMS based 2FA is actually worse than no 2FA at all because it creates a new attack surface through social engineering. If you can't support FIDO or TOTP then don't go there.

@UHEngineering How do you find out when an episode of Engines of Our Ingenuity originally aired? The dates do not seem to appear on your website.

@ClaireMadMax @speakoutsister At a previous job we had this really confusing training about gifts and I couldn't figure if I was allowed to let a vendor or customer buy me a cup of coffee at Starbucks. That was a decade and a half ago. I'm sure it hasn't gotten any better.

@speakoutsister Yep, we had to do ethical training in a previous company because a big manager had run off with over £1m. You could accept a cup of tea or something like that but you couldn't accept a "gift" over the value of £5

Just going to repeat this. A STREET CLEANER wasn't allowed to accept a gift of a holiday from grateful local residents because his contract prevented him getting any gifts.

@AndroidAuth I would consider buying this, and even getting more Google Home infrastructure (currently just a Chromecast) to support it. Google's Smart Speaker was awful, because it would override the assistant on my phone. It needs a separate attention phrase.

@Resuna @davidzmorris @ManuclearBomb I mean, there have been jokes about people saying too much since jokes existed. The phrase, “Quiet part out loud” is a unique way of making that joke and entered the zeitgeist specifically because of the Simpsons.

Been thinking about Simpsons phrases that have entered the popular lexicon. Things like "land of contrasts" and "saying the quiet part loud," what else is there (not thinking of neologisms/solecisms like "cromulent" or "embiggen")

@ManuclearBomb I've spent the last decade having forgotten that "quiet part loud" is from the Simpsons

@alicelovescode I used to call all these and more "unleaded" back when leaded was still a thing, and never had to explain. I'm not sure whether there's a similar analogy any more that people would just get. Edit: Google says you could still get leaded gas until 1996. Wow.

you ever notice that when made without anything extra, a sandwich is “plain”, a glass of whiskey is “neat”, and a cup of coffee is “black”? three different words that all mean the same thing but can only be used for specific items. you cannot get a coffee neat or a whiskey black

@AndroidAuth So instead of giving it more base memory they're going to shortchange it on ports. Son of a female dog.

@memeticsisyphus @fleccas If it was Nixon, who was a terrible person but at least competent and actually tried to do the right thing sometimes, I would agree with you. But the Right today wants to watch half the country burn.

I was talking to @fleccas about this (real friend in real life)… no one is coming to save you. There is no electoral victory that brings you a good life. Your personal relationships are what’s going to make your life worth living. Don’t burn those bridges over something a silly as an election.

It’s a stunning lack of awareness. Your dad might vote GOP, he might watch Fox News, he may even be disappointed you disagree with him. But he wants you over for thanksgiving, he wants you to get married and have kids so he can play with his grandchildren. You didn’t lose your dad to fox, you became obsessed with electoral politics in such an unhealthy way that being in the same room with someone you disagree with is too much to handle, even if that someone raised you with love.
