St John's should've been a 4 seed. CBS should've asked the committee head why they were not. I'd assume 5-5 in Q1 games with only 4 wins against tournament teams is the reason, but would've liked to hear it. What hurt them the most is the Big East is just brutal. There is no reason this conference should be less than a 5 bid conference, but can only blame the programs that didn't show up this year.

A Laotian man came to the United States as a 9-month old after his parents fought for the US and fled in 1975. He was convicted of theft in 2001 and has other serioeus offenses on his criminal record, including DUI and assault in 2024. He was orderd removed in 2008 but could not be deported (he is stateless). Judge Cartwright notes his entire family lives in the US, he has three US citizen kids, doesn't speak Lao and "has never known a life outside this country." But the government recently detained him and said they now have travel documents to return him to Laos on March 15. Cartwright calls the decision to prioritize this deportation "cruel and senseless," but says there's no legal bar on his detention pending deportation. Laos and Vietnam have long resisted taking back their citizens deemed deportable in the US. The govt says there are 5,000 Laotian nationals with final removal orders.
