@RizeDee @JRlotsofnumbers @TomCottonAR @EWErickson What? You don’t like being called how you act? Grow up and know that you were wrong. Or continue acting like a 2 year old. Your rep, not mine to worry about. Have the life you deserve.

In 2020, Republicans and President Trump tried to refill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve at $20 a barrel. Chuck Schumer and Democrats blocked it from happening.

@CHRISTCAPP @TomCottonAR @EWErickson The SPR has been used several times before 2022 for supply shocks and price disruptions such as during the Gulf War, Katrina, and Libya. Stabilizing energy markets is one of the SPR's purposes. Whether you agree with the decision or not, it wasn’t unprecedented.

Okay, so you've moved on to the, "It's happening, but it's a good thing" phase. I'll concede that we now are now more energy independent due to the shale revolution. That would have never happened under progressive admins, btw. But that's beside the point. Despite whatever its original intended use was, or whatever purpose it serves now, one thing I hope you can agree with me on is that it wasn't created to help win elections.

@janenb @thephobowl @TomCottonAR @EWErickson Democrats currently control neither the House, the Senate, nor the presidency. It’s odd to accuse them of abusing power they don’t have. They’re currently getting their lunch eaten politically in nearly every way. Not sure where you’re getting your news.

@thephobowl @RizeDee @TomCottonAR @EWErickson It’s all about power to Leftists (which is where virtually all Democrats have moved - Fetterman being a notable exception). They will do anything, move any lever, lie about anything in order to gain and keep power. All to control the populace of any country they are in.

@RizeDee @JRlotsofnumbers @TomCottonAR @EWErickson No it was to point out your ignorance that Biden and the democrats caused the inflation that they had to empty the spr to “fix”. Thanks for showing your ignorance of the cult you protect!

@CHRISTCAPP @TomCottonAR @EWErickson The SPR wasn’t designed to sit full forever. It’s an emergency buffer sized around import risk. The U.S. now produces around 13 million barrels per day and imports far less than when the reserve was created. That’s why both parties began selling barrels starting in 2015.

Congressional mandates? Nice spin, but Biden didn't just draw the mandated amount. Dems used the SPR like it was an extension of ActBlue. Yes, mandates started in 2015. Fine. During Trump 1.0 he sold what he was mandated to sell. Biden dumped an extra 180 million barrels in 2022 (on top of the mandates) right before midterms to artificially crush gas prices after his own green-new-deal disasters and Russia invasion chaos spiked everything. Sold high, yeah because he directly and indirectly caused the prices to be high. Then he claimed a “refill” by buying less than he had already drawn after prices dropped from the increased supply (“legal” market manipulation) and then magically “canceling” (mandated) future sales. Funny how mandates are only referenced when they benefit your story. He also caused major damage to the caverns where we keep the reserves. His rapid drawdowns damaged the whole system. Trump tried to strategically buy cheap at $20/barrel in 2020. Schumer and the Dems blocked it. Then, with prices dipping, the OBBB tried to allocate ~$3B for the refills, but once again the left screamed “subsidies for the oil industry” and we were left with ~$170M to refill. Trump 2.0 is actually adding back what he can despite the mess he inherited when the SPR was gutted to 40-year lows and the caverns were F’d. But yeah…context ⛽️

Congress mandated SPR sales from 2015–2020, years before Biden. They extend past 2020 regardless of who is president. The 2022 release came after Russia’s invasion disrupted global oil markets and was coordinated internationally. The U.S. bought oil back around 60 dollars/barrel. Then in 2025 Trump didn’t refill even when prices dipped. Your version of "number smaller though" seems to miss some of this context...

@JRlotsofnumbers @DMicdrop @TomCottonAR @EWErickson Congress mandated SPR sales beginning in 2015 and scheduled them into the 2020s regardless of who was president The 2022 release was an emergency response after Russia’s invasion disrupted global oil supply and was coordinated with other countries

@RizeDee @DMicdrop @TomCottonAR @EWErickson The key point is that the 2015 release had stopped by the end of Trump's term. Regardless of the reason for the 2022 release, it was done when dems had control of congress and the white house. Try to justify it however you want, they are still the ones who depleted it.

@RizeDee @DMicdrop @TomCottonAR @EWErickson Notice how the level flattened out at the end of Trump's term, then suddenly dropped right after Biden took office - right there at the right of the chart?

@RizeDee @TracieJames777 @TomCottonAR @EWErickson Riiiight... Congress has the purse... remember? Missed opportunity? $60+bbl versus $20 bbl.... do the math... dems blocked that. And this was Trumps problem to fix what Biden/dems broke? Gotcha.
