That would have troubled me, too. Jesus often met people's physical needs before addressing anything else. He fed the hungry, healed the sick, and showed compassion without making it conditional. While I understand the desire to invite people to church, kindness should never feel like a transaction. Sometimes, the most powerful sermon is simply sharing your coffee, your food, or your time with someone in need. I hope that experience doesn't keep you from Christ, even if it disappointed you in His followers.
