The Catholic Church is not a denomination, but rather the original Church founded by Jesus Christ. We are the universal body (rooted in 1st-century apostolic tradition) from which other groups later separated, becoming Protestants (protesting the Catholic Church). Without guidance and direction, Protestants have since splintered into over 40,000 sects (denominations).

Many Protestants are hung up on works. That isn't the issue with Mormonism. The real issue is that they do not believe in the Holy Trinity, so they are not Christians, so their baptisms are not valid when converting to the true Church. Not even to mention they think God was man at one time, and was a sinner. And every Mormon will one day turn into their own Gods and have a universe of their own.

'The Chosen' creator Dallas Jenkins, talking to two Mormon teachers, explains that Mormons have such a reverence and genuine respect for Christ- more than most evangelicals do-and they honor scripture and exhibit fidelity to scripture.

Francis's pontificate was a disaster. But Judas betrayed Christ and Peter denied Christ three times in one night. All the apostles except John turned their back on Christ when he was crucified. So we can't turn our backs on the Church during scandal, even during horrible pontificates. The Church is perfect, the people in it are not.

Second, dogma and Church doctrine can never be changed by anyone, not even a horrible pope. It cannot be done! Even Pope Francis understood this, even if a few heretical bishops and priests do not.
