Ahmed dated Safeera for years but left her to marry Safiya. A year later, he married Safeera as his second wife. Another year later, Safiya publicly divorced him. Safeera defended her husband with a long epistle, praying for his peace. Then, a year later… Ahmed married Safiya again. 👀

It’s sad, many of us don’t practice what we preach… It’s almost as if everyone is fake! Feels like everything we say is just a facade for social validation, and public display of moral superiority. This world will never get better, the genuine ones are outnumbered.

Amara unfolded it. Inside was an address. Nothing else. "What is this?" Before Samuel could answer, his face suddenly changed. His eyes widened. He was staring toward the hospital entrance. Amara turned. A man in a black suit stood near the doors. Watching them. The stranger smiled. And Samuel went pale. "We have to leave." "Why?" "They found me." Fear exploded across Samuel's face. The old man stood abruptly. "You must never tell anyone about this meeting." "Wait!" "If something happens to me, go to that address." "Samuel!" But he was already moving. Rushing toward a side exit. The man in the black suit followed. Seconds later they disappeared into the night. Leaving Amara alone. Confused. Terrified. And holding a mysterious address connected to her dead father. She looked down at the paper again. Then her eyes widened. Written beneath the address was a single sentence she hadn't noticed before. A sentence apparently written by her father. If you're reading this, it means they know they know they know the truth. TO BE CONTINUED

The rain continued to hammer the streets as silence swallowed the space between them. Amara stared at the furious woman. "What did you just say?" The woman pointed at Damian again. "I said he killed your father." Damian's jaw tightened. "That's enough, Vivian." "No," Vivian snapped. "She deserves the truth." Amara felt dizzy. Her father had died five years ago in what the police called a highway accident. The case had been closed. No suspects. No investigation. Nothing. Her mother had cried for months before finally accepting that there would never be answers. Now a complete stranger was claiming the most powerful businessman in Lagos was responsible. "Tell me what you know," Amara demanded. Vivian opened her mouth. Suddenly two security men stepped out of the SUV. Damian raised a hand. "Get her home." "I'm not leaving!" Vivian shouted. The guards gently but firmly led her toward the other vehicle. "You can't hide it forever, Damian!" she yelled. "Ask him about the contract!" The door slammed shut. The car sped away. Amara turned back to Damian. Her heart pounded. "What contract?" Damian remained silent. "What contract?" she repeated. For the first time, uncertainty flashed across his face. Then it disappeared. "I'll explain everything." "When?" "When you're ready to listen." Amara laughed bitterly. "You ask me to marry you, a stranger accuses you of murdering my father, and now you want me to trust you?" Damian looked directly into her eyes. "Trust me or don't. But your father wasn't the man you thought he was." The words struck her like a slap. Before she could respond, Damian handed her a business card. "Come to my office tomorrow morning." He climbed back into the SUV. The vehicle disappeared into the Lagos traffic, leaving Amara standing alone in the rain. And holding more questions than answers. --- That night, sleep refused to come. Amara sat beside her mother's hospital bed. The older woman was asleep. Machines beeped softly around her. Amara stared at an old photograph she carried everywhere. It showed her parents smiling together. A happy family. A simpler time. She touched the picture. "Dad... what were you hiding?" A voice interrupted her thoughts. "Who are you talking to?" Amara looked up. A nurse stood nearby. "No one," she replied. The nurse smiled. "Your mother's condition is stable." Relief washed over Amara. "Thank God." The nurse nodded. Then she hesitated. "There's someone asking for you downstairs." Amara frowned. "Who?" "He didn't give his name." Her stomach tightened. At this point, surprises never meant anything good. --- The hospital lobby was almost empty. A lone man sat in the waiting area. He looked to be in his sixties. Gray beard. Worn clothes. Tired eyes. Yet something about him felt familiar. When he saw Amara, he stood immediately. "You look just like him." Amara froze. "Like who?" The old man's eyes filled with emotion. "Your father." A chill ran through her body. "Who are you?" "My name is Samuel." He glanced around nervously. "I worked with your father." Amara sat across from him. Questions flooded her mind. "You knew him?" Samuel nodded. "Very well." "Then tell me what happened." The old man swallowed hard. "For years I've been too afraid to speak." "Speak about what?" Samuel leaned closer. "Your father was investigating something." "Investigating what?" "A secret organization." Amara blinked. "What organization?" Samuel's voice dropped to a whisper. "The Circle." The name meant nothing to her. But the fear in his eyes was real. "They control politicians, businessmen, police officers. Powerful people." Amara frowned. "That sounds impossible." "I thought so too." Samuel pulled a folded piece of paper from his pocket. "Your father discovered something they wanted hidden." He placed the paper in her hand. "My life is already ruined. But yours doesn't have to be."

The rain poured heavily over the streets of Lagos, turning the roads into rivers of mud and chaos. Amara tightened her grip on her handbag as she hurried toward the bus stop. At twenty-four, she had already learned that life was unfair. Her father was dead, her mother was sick, and the bills never stopped coming. Her phone vibrated. It was another message from her landlord. PAY YOUR RENT OR LEAVE THE HOUSE.

Amara sighed. "I don't even know where to start," she whispered. A black SUV suddenly stopped beside her. The tinted window rolled down. Inside sat one of the wealthiest businessmen in Lagos. Chief Damian Cole. Amara froze. Everyone knew him. Powerful. Rich. Dangerous. Rumors followed him everywhere. Nobody knew which rumors were true. "Miss Amara Okafor?" he asked calmly. Her heart skipped. How did he know her name? "Y-yes?" "I have a job offer for you." Amara frowned. "What kind of job?" Damian smiled. "The kind that will solve every problem in your life." Thunder exploded across the sky. Something about his smile felt wrong. Very wrong. Yet the thought of money made her hesitate. "My mother is in the hospital," she admitted quietly. "I know." Amara's blood ran cold. He knew? How? Damian reached into his jacket and pulled out an envelope. Inside was more money than Amara had ever seen in her entire life. Her hands trembled. "What do you want from me?" she whispered. Damian stared at her. For a moment, his expression became dark. Almost frightening. Then he said four words that changed everything. "Marry me for one year." Amara felt the world stop. Before she could answer, another car screeched to a halt behind the SUV. A young woman jumped out. Her eyes burned with fury. She pointed directly at Amara. "Stay away from him!" she screamed. Damian's face instantly hardened. The woman turned to Amara. "You have no idea who this man really is." And then she revealed a secret that made Amara's knees go weak. "He is responsible for your father's death." TO BE CONTINUED...
