In a first- Trump claims 45,000 Iranian civilians were massacred by the Iranian regime in January 2026. So far the only new takeaway from this evening’s address.

I was interviewed by Euronews, where I argued that the Islamic regime should not be trusted. How can a government that has killed tens of thousands of its own citizens and is setting the entire region on fire be considered trustworthy? The regime has never honoured agreements with previous U.S. administrations. I also emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran poses a serious threat to Europe too. I urged European governments to end their policy of appeasement and adopt a firmer, more decisive stance toward the regime in Tehran.

Mohammadreza Javedan, a 79-year-old resident of Tehran, was killed in recent airstrikes after a bomb struck a residential area. The attack reportedly hit a civilian neighborhood, resulting in the death of the elderly civilian. According to available information, Javedan had previously taken part in the January 2026 protests. Despite his age, he joined demonstrations using a walker and was reportedly beaten with batons by Islamic Republic security forces during the crackdown. His death, after having already been injured during the suppression of protests, underscores the vulnerability of civilians who now face risks from both internal repression and ongoing military strikes. More than a month into the war, civilian casualties have not only continued but remain ongoing.
