304 BILLION BARRELS. That’s the real reason Venezuela matters. Sky News just laid it out plainly: Trump’s Venezuela obsession was never really about drugs. It’s about oil, specifically heavy crude. The U.S. now produces tons of light shale oil, but our Gulf Coast refineries were built for heavy, gloopy crude. They need it to function. And guess who has the largest proven reserves of heavy oil on Earth? Venezuela. Canada has some. Russia has some. But Venezuela has the most, 304 billion barrels sitting underground. That’s why tankers, sanctions, regime change talk, and now bombs. It was never about fentanyl. It was never about democracy. It’s about feeding refineries, controlling supply, and locking down oil before rivals do.

@ChefGruel my rib roast is at 115 right now, so looks like it’s going to be done earlier than planned. We’re not going to eat for 2 more hours. When I pull it at 120, can I wrap it and put it in a cooler until time for the oven sear? Or should I sear it and then wrap it?

@tferriss Yes. My experience has been a 9. Excellent quality assistant. Thorough pre-assessment and excellent final matching. They do require more time with management check-ins than I like but I think it keeps their QC on point. DM me if you need further info.

American here who hates Trumps strategy regarding Canada. I wish we’d both drop tariffs, keep our countries sovereign and separate but build an economic and security powerhouse around the dollar and shared military might. Ford’s move, however, is a foreign political influence campaign in America - deceptively crafted and dishonest. That is not right. You don’t do that. You lost my support on this front.

When Brooks Lee and Dylan Beavers and a few other really talented dudes were playing for local high schools in SLO I really made it a point to go to those games. Glad I did.

@HeidiWatney DM me for more if you’d like. So many great restaurants I can recommend that are more “local” spots.

Mama’s restaurant which is just North of Paia is a must. Very hard to get a reservation and some people poo-poo it because it’s so popular but it’s worth the effort and expense in my opinion. Both the Grand Wailea and the Westin have premium towers with private food and beverage clubs. I recommend going for those upgrades because both places are large with lots of people.

I need Maui tips. Booking a family vacation for late December. Any recommendations on where to stay?
