Place the counter in a civilised manner with facts - like, 2015 flood was a severe one, x number of people died, normal life affected for x number of days, x amount was lost in property and infra damages, actual reason for delay in opening lake, state and Union govt response etc. Natural calamities happens irrespective of who is in power and its impact is felt by everyone including you and me. No government takes 100% right decisions. If you are going to respond to public opinion in such a way, how can you expect public support and win election?

He has said "I challenge MK Stalin show me one place where in NEP, we've said Hindi is compulsory." This article proves that in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Hindi and Sanskrit are given strategic priority compared to other regional languages. 👇👇👇👇👇 1. Entire Dedicated Paragraph Praising Sanskrit (Paragraph 4.17) -------------------- The policy devotes a long, detailed paragraph exclusively to Sanskrit. The NEP 2020 singles out Sanskrit as a language that will be mainstreamed across all levels of education. It calls Sanskrit as an important modern language in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. A classical language with literature greater in volume than that of Latin and Greek combined. Containing "vast treasures" of knowledge in mathematics, philosophy, grammar, music, politics, medicine, architecture, metallurgy, drama, poetry, storytelling, etc. (called "Sanskrit Knowledge Systems"). It explicitly states: "Sanskrit will thus be offered at all levels of school and higher education as an important, enriching option for students, including as an option in the three-language formula." The policy proposes that Sanskrit Universities will move towards becoming multi-disciplinary institutions, broadening their scope and influence. 👇👇👇👇👇 2. Other classical languages mentioned for namesake only ------------------- Other classical languages (Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, etc.) are covered in just one short paragraph (4.18) with much milder language: Other classical languages are acknowledged for their "rich literature," but the policy only says they "must be preserved" and "will also be widely available... possibly as online modules." There is no equivalent detailed praise, no comparison to Latin/Greek, and no strong recommendation to offer them at "all levels" like Sanskrit. NEP recommends teaching Sanskrit in interesting, experiential ways, including through Simple Standard Sanskrit (SSS) textbooks and "Sanskrit through Sanskrit" (STS) method. In higher education (Paragraph 22.15), it states that "Sanskrit will become a natural part of a holistic multidisciplinary higher education" if a student chooses it. No other language is given such priority. 👇👇👇👇👇 3. The Three-Language Formula and Hindi ------------------ While the NEP states just for name sake that "no language will be imposed on any State," the practical implementation of the Three-Language Formula often favors Hindi in non-Hindi speaking states. The Hindi Belt Influence: In Hindi-speaking states, students often choose Hindi, English, and one other Indian language (often Sanskrit). However, in non-Hindi speaking states, the "second" or "third" Indian language choice frequently defaults to Hindi due to the availability of teachers and resources, compared to the scarcity of resources for other regional languages (like Tamil or Kannada) in North India. 👇👇👇👇👇 4. Sanskrit gains functional importance ------------------ The NEP places a heavy emphasis on teaching the "traditional knowledge of India." Since a vast majority of ancient Indian scientific, philosophical, and medical texts are written in Sanskrit, the language becomes the primary vehicle for this curriculum. By making IKS a part of the mainstream curriculum, Sanskrit gains a functional importance that other regional languages (which may have their own distinct folk traditions) do not receive to the same degree in the national framework. 👇👇👇👇👇 5. Resource Allocation and National Institutions -------------------- The policy mentions the strengthening of Sanskrit institutions and the use of Sanskrit to teach other subjects. While the policy proposes an Indian Institute of Translation and Interpretation (IITI) for many languages, the reality is that the historical budgetary allocation by the Central Government has significantly favored Hindi and Sanskrit over the "Scheduled Languages" (the 22 languages in the 8th Schedule). 👇👇👇👇👇 6. Document Tone and Cultural Framing ---------------------- The NEP document frequently uses Sanskrit-derived words (e.g., Jnan for knowledge, Pragyaa for wisdom, Satya for truth) even in its English text. It strongly links education to "ancient Indian knowledge", which is heavily tied to Sanskrit traditions. 👇👇👇👇👇 6. Indirect Imposition of Hindi --------------- Although the policy repeatedly says "no language will be imposed" and gives flexibility to states and students, the structure benefits Hindi. Hindi-speaking states can meet the "two native Indian languages" requirement easily with Hindi + Sanskrit. Non-Hindi states already teach their regional language + English. Adding a third language often means Hindi or Sanskrit, creating an unequal burden. The overall emphasis on "native Indian languages" in a national policy is often interpreted as indirectly promoting Hindi as a link language. 👇👇👇👇👇 Summary of the Bias 1. Sanskrit receives far more rhetorical weight, detailed promotion, and concrete implementation plans. 2. The three-language formula, combined with the above, makes it easier for Hindi/Sanskrit to dominate in practice. 3. This creates a practical tilt toward a Sanskrit-Hindi centric view of Indian culture and education. 4. The other classical and regional languages are just treated as secondary options. 5. The depth, length, and enthusiasm of the language used for Sanskrit is noticeably greater than for others. 6.
