Does your FD have a plan to deal with extremely dangerous Trench Rescues? 1. Train your crews to mitigate incidents. 2. Have an agreement with a regional team to respond with trained experts. Not doing at least the second option is gross negligence.

“DIAMOND of DEATH” replaces “Lethal Triad of Trauma” by adding CALCIUM to resuscitation. USAR Teams & Rescuers that encounter Prolonged Extrication …..that’s ALL OF US! need to be aware of all of these factors. Ca+ is vital in clotting! #firefighters #paramedics #USAR

Roof removal when it unnecessary is a very amateur point of focus. Taking the roof/removing glass that doesn’t need to be is a hallmark of training on cars without a dent in them (it exposes patients to cold, which kills trauma patients). Use rams, cut the seats, get them moving
