As we watch things spin out of control in the Middle East I can't help but recall, and I've said it many, many times before and I'll say it again: one human being should not be able to have all this power. The Founders didn't want it that way and they were 100% right.

@HyperboleForce @dccommonsense The founders never thought a whole branch of government would willingly give up power to the other branches just because committing to decisions and be forthright might get them unelected 🥲. If we had a parliament we’d have had like 10 new elections this year lol

@QuidProNunc @dccommonsense This is what I’m worried about with the mid-terms. The only thing that saved us from a constitutional crisis on Jan 6th was a phone call between Dan Quayle and Mike Pence. What’s going to stop Trump when he knows he’s going to lose the mid-terms and all of America is pissed off?

@dccommonsense I agree. It all seems to be OK so long as those in power are agreeable. And there’s a part of me that wants to see the deterrence of accountability be crusaded here - another part dreads what someone like Trump would do this time around if he felt boxed in. Like the ol’ Rubicon.

@dccommonsense Another thing you’ve said a million times and is currently playing out: A leader can think their in control of things, but then war begins to build a momentum of its own. The genies out of the bottle and we are all at the mercy of an incalculable chaos of innumerable variables

@dccommonsense @The1Antagonist Agreed. This conflict is going to last. Irans previous negotiators, the ones actually arguing for peace, have been killed. I hope our interceptor stockpile is greater than what was has been reported, otherwise every American on a middle eastern base is at extreme risk

@The1Antagonist How old are you? We've already seen this movie multiple times. This has been going on for a couple of days. This is the easiest part of the whole endeavor . "Mission Accomplished".

There's a reason that in every previous Middle East intervention we've gone to great lengths to avoid the "USA+Israel vs an Islamic nation" look. This time we did a 180 degree turnabout. We've never done it this way before and there's good reasons why we didn't.

@dccommonsense It’s as you say in the podcasts. All throughout history people make decisions thinking they have things under control…..until the inertia of their previous actions takes a life of its own. Sad we are walking down this path, just incredibly incredibly sad

@dccommonsense Israel media is reporting Trump wants a quick end to the conflict, possibly offering a Delcy Rodriquez deal. With the all voices for peace within Iran killed in the previous round of negotiations, I think Trump is dealing with something he no longer has control over

@SagacityForAll @fauxguy70 @dccommonsense Did I say we should? I’m not advocating for ditching democracy. I’m advocating for those in Congress to do less of the charades, hearings, investigations, impeachments, etc. and more of their primary work: legislating.

Reading through the posts on this app it is astonishing the number of people making the case that a representative system is too slow and fraught with disagreement and that a single person at the top with all the power would be better. Those who say this really devalue America.

@SanchoPanzy @fauxguy70 @dccommonsense We’ve seen such a president radically transform America before, without desecrating on and actively going against the very foundations of our constitution

@SanchoPanzy @fauxguy70 @dccommonsense That doesn’t mean we have to trade our current form of government for something more authoritarian. It means we have to fix the democracy and its descent into oligarchy. It’s okay to have strong, executive minded presidents (I.e., FDR). Trump has gone far beyond that!

Candiace is not cool: 1. Acting like she’s the queen of the game when she lost too. That comment to Maura about “a lesson in discernment” was so condescending 2. Hogging the spotlight, coming hard at Rob when he was actually playing like a traitor….😑 #TraitorsUS

@dccommonsense I’m 29 years old. A mix of gen z and a millennial. I feel my generation knows that this is wrong. I also feel a personal responsibility to teach those younger than me the moral foundation this country was founded on. I’m sure many share my sentiments

@dccommonsense As long as there are people who wish to profit off of and corrode America, there will also be those who will push back. Even if it’s a voice in the wilderness, people with common sense must not stop fighting for the fulfillment of the declarations ideals

What the hell is this? So now our highest Justice figures while appearing in person to answer congressional questions are there spouting electioneering slogans? While saying we shouldn't be talking about what they're investigating?
Shadow of Ezra@ShadowofEzra

Pam Bondi goes on a completely unhinged rant about the stock market when asked why she has not indicted any clients of Jeffrey Epstein. Bondi says all Americans need to focus on other topics, like the economy, and not on Jeffrey Epstein’s child trafficking network. “That’s what we should be talking about.”

@dccommonsense I think they might be trying to protect some of their corporate / ad sponsoring backers….its all just sad to see as an American who wants transparency and justice for the victims. The people need to keep the kettle hot!

@dccommonsense Completely agree. I don’t think we’re going to get any transparency from this administration unless the populist wave of sentiment is too much to bear. This should be front page news 24/7, go to CNNs website or any other MSM and the top story isn’t Epstein, it’s usually 1-2 down

In order for the govt to keep the lid on the Epstein crap there can't be a prosecution (other than Maxwell). 6 million pages of docs, people dropping left and right in other countries, but not a single indictment here? b/c if that happens it opens everything up (witness interviews,

@dccommonsense I guess in summary, please keep posting common sense. 😂 I love it so much and as a young person, learning about the America you grew up in pre-911, as well as the America you believe we can still be has given me me a lot of hope. Much love and tell Ben I said hi 👋

@dccommonsense Dan!! As a young man who follows politics pretty aggressively your recent common sense release has made me over the moon (about to listen to it now). We as fellow countrymen need to come together and fix our problems. Something I wish more of my late 20s friends thought about.

Thanks my friend. To talk current events at all these days is to get the negativity no matter which side you're coming from. Independents unfortunately just get it from both sides and have no "choir" in their corner. But I'm a big boy and don't need that.
Chris Thayer@AttorneyCThayer

@dccommonsense Dan, sorry to hear you have received so much negativity from your recent Common Sense podcast. I hope this does not dissuade you from making more episodes. Keep up the great work - and see you in Seattle!

@dccommonsense On another, listening to your old common sense shows has given me a lot of wonderful insights on the periods of history I lived through but didn’t fully understand. I’m 27, and hearing your takes on the ACA, Obama era executive overreach etc. has been really informative.
