While Colt Emerson is the shortstop of the future, Jerry Dipoto made clear J.P. Crawford is the shortstop for this team this year. Crawford, in final year of a five-year, $51M deal, will begin a rehab assignment tonight in Tacoma, with plans to join the M's Friday in Anaheim.

SS Colt Emerson's eight-year, $95 million contract with the Mariners is official, begins this season and goes through 2033 with a club option for 2034. The 20-year-old will remain at Triple-A for the time being, though because of the deal he was added to the team's 40-man roster.

@known2slayfish @TAT1SSZN 7-9 has been the most productive part of our order so far this year to be fair lol. Not saying it's sustainable but Canzone/Raley, Young, and Crawford will likely occupy those spots most of the year and I think will be just fine. Black hole is definitely an exaggeration
