The Eldar were responsible for shielding the Beast of Ullanor from the Imperium's sight in the hopes that the War of the Beast would destroy the Imperium. It was Eldrad who intervened to help the Imperium end the war. Because Eldrad is the only Eldar with some common sense who realized humanity is the best weapon against Chaos. And even then, he ultimately plans to betray humanity when Chaos is dealt with.

The Eldar fired first. Humanity and the Eldar had no real interactions outside agreeing to non-aggression pacts when their Empire still stood. During the Age of Strife, as things began to collapse, Craftworlders and Drukhari alike attacked humanity unprovoked. Craftworlders based on vague prophecy, Drukhari because they could.
Humanity's ire for the Eldar is entirely the Eldar's fault. They're the masters of creating their own problems then refusing to accept responsibility.
