Just as a reminder, this is not a troll account. This account is made to report on the history of Splash Mountain in an accurate way using objective information. There is no “gimmick” here. Can’t believe this had to be clarified.

@SplashMHS @NickChaps96 Do you have a list of all the splash mountain memorabilia that’s been release over the years? I know Japan got some more plush’s under the critter country label.

More proof I never said I hate Splash Mountain. 🤣 Here’s a few more things in my “Disney room” in my house. I have the plush they had shortly before it closed, but they’re packed away at the moment.

CORRECTION: The example I used of Disney censoring Finn in China’s “The Force Awakens” poster was wrong, as he got his own poster. However, there are much more examples of Disney censoring African Americans. I wanted to correct this to not spread misinformation.

Princess and the Frog, while loved by many, was also considered controversial at the time of its release. This fact is often forgotten.

@toonjoeyhimself I didn’t know this, thanks for correcting me! However, there are many other examples of Disney mistreating their Black actors in the modern day. John Boyega has brought it up many times. I’ll add what you said to the thread as to not spread misinformation.

@SplashMHS Also Finn got his own entire poster (same with Chewie). Front and center, too! I haven't heard of the other examples you've given so I'll have to research them eventually.

@jackbrady1010 According to Walt Disney, he needed very little direction while on set, he was a natural! Walt said he was one of the best actors he ever met, and remained friends with James until his passing in 1948

@SplashMHS This is a super interesting piece of lore. Many of us aren’t privy to the inner workings of Imagineering. In a future post can you identify the first cast member to suggest this, and the circumstances?

@RPD0285 After, they removed references to its characters, music, and took it off of merchandise. This shows that they did not originally have the idea to erase Splash Mountain. Even if there was a plan to get rid of the ride prior, it wasn't full-on erasure for its content. (2/2)

@RPD0285 Sure, thank you for asking! Basically, Disney had been promoting Splash Mountain up until a month until the announcement of a re-theme. (1/2)

@1928Fantasmic @muppetsleaze Princess and the Frog actually did not do too well at the box office despite being an overall success financially, Disney likely knew that the characters wouldn’t be recognized. Dumb logic on their part to assume generic animals are more known, though.

@SplashMHS @muppetsleaze Not only that, but why didn’t they make new plush of Louis and Ray?? All we got was a Cuddleez that doesn’t even really look like Louis and a weird light up plastic firefly.

i cannot believe i'm walking back into this but is the premise of tiana's being unpopular even true? it has an avg higher wait time than splash. the discourse feels divorced from the interests of the avg consumer who has likely never heard of the splash mountain source material
