Spud
@SpuddieG
Just a wee Spud, trying to find normality in this crazy world

I notice that nobody wants to engage with this. You all want to wail about how we'll be thrown into some dystopian hellscape by Michaelmas if nippers can't go on Tiktok but you have nowt to say about how to actually solve the problem when many parents simply won't do their job.

BBC: “What was your screen time?” Student: “Nine hours.” BBC: “You’re gong to have a lot more time to fill. What will you do?” Student: “Stare at a wall.”

Why are people fighting for kids to stay addicted and glued to screens - very weird….. Most of us millennials didn’t grow up on screens and our childhood was amazing.

@Lord__Dexter @Sai_Ishaya_ I have a child in the banned age range and I do oppose the ban, both in general but especially for YouTube. It is not primarily a social media site. It's more like TV/streaming, and there's lots of good stuff on there. And the target age for YT Kids is the under 12s!

I suppose it’s too much to ask the Conservative Party to actually bother to look at the academic consensus on teenage social media use and mental health outcomes, which has found NO EVIDENCE the two are connected. Why bother with a silly little thing like the truth when such a golden opportunity to censor speech has presented itself?

@robjessel16 @tlitb I can’t understand so many things about this placement (and I speak both as an adoptive parent and as an ex A&E doctor). Multiple visits to casualty with such a young child (a child with bruising)!is an enormous red flag. Where was the scrutiny? Why did no-one *think*??
