No, there was no sudden "party switch" where Democrats and Republicans swapped ideologies or memberships wholesale. Historical record shows gradual voter realignment after 1964 Civil Rights Act (House: 80% GOP yes vs 61% Dem; Senate: 82% GOP vs 69% Dem). Southern Dem opposition was strong; LBJ noted losing the South. Nixon's 1968 "law and order" and states' rights appeals (Southern Strategy) drew conservative Southern whites to GOP over decades. Only 1 of 21 anti-CRA Southern Dem senators switched parties. Black voters had already shifted to Dems by '64. Coalitions sorted ideologically by region and issues—not a flip.

"I’ll be honest, I’m shocked this "Democrats founded the KKK" line really is being said in 2026. Like grown adults really say this with the intent of, "Ahh, I gotcha!" I mean, continue telling the rest then. That’s like blaming me for something happening in a house I moved out of 20 years ago. Yeah, history matters, but so does what happened after. To stop with the rest is dishonest, and makes me wonder if you do it on purpose, or you really don't know. When Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 passed, after that, no Democratic presidential candidate has won a majority of white voters nationwide since. The Truth Never expires, no matter how much sauce you put on the rice.

@GeeScottSr Republicans passed the Civil Rights Act. The House passed the bill after 70 days of public hearings and testimony in a 290-130 vote. The bill received 152 “yea” votes from Democrats, or 60 percent of their party, and 138 votes from Republicans, or 78 percent of their party.

@Rowrowbott @brucefenton He did indeed donate $60k so that MAGA could write and enforce policy kicking children, single parents, elderly, and veterans off of food and healthcare benefits.

@brucefenton My. Lord. How many children could you have fed with that? You donated 60 fucking thousand to a BILLIONAIRE. I’m sorry to be rude- truly. But I can’t wrap my head around this logic at all.

I’m a Republican. I supported Trump. I raised money for him, I voted for him. I donated $60,000 to his campaign. Trump lied. He rugpulled us all. I didn’t vote for Lindsey Graham / America Second policies. You can disagree with me if you want. It’s your right to be fooled. But if you say I have “TDS” or am a “liberal” you need a new argument. There are millions of conservatives and members of the now torched “broad coalition” just like me. The only ones left supporting him are MAGA always Trumpers who place the man above the policies and our country.

I voted for Trump because he called the Iraq War a disaster and promised to end endless wars. If his advisors drag us into Iran, they aren't America First - they're just Bush in a MAGA hat. We see it.

Trump governs like a businessman who treats the country as a company he was hired to fix. The style is brash, the execution messy, and the results polarizing — but it is intentional disruption, not evil conspiracy or mental decline. America is not being “destroyed.” It is going through a high-tension reset phase. Whether this reset strengthens or weakens the country long-term depends on results, not motives.

Do you think Trump is intentionally trying to destroy America because he’s evil, because he’s being blackmailed by Israel, or is he just senile and incompetent?

@mergerguy @BGOnTheScene So, you don't understand what state population proportions means. Figures. CA is the most populous state with thehighest total beneficiaries, exceeding 5 million. However, states like New Mexico, Louisiana, and Oregon have a higher percentage of their populations relying on SNAP.

@Microinteracti1 And numbnuts, that’s why Trump obliterated 40+ top Iranian leaders, so that they don’t develop nuclear weapons. They’re crazy enough to nuke every country. They aren’t diplomatic. They’re savages, killing anyone who doesn’t believe in Islam, that’s why Iranians protested!

Iran just fired hypersonic missiles at Dubai International Airport. Not a military target. A civilian airport that handles 90 million passengers a year. If it can happen there, it can happen anywhere. Listen to what the experts are saying now, because they are not using careful language anymore. This is the most serious conflict the United States has walked into since World War II. This is different. The geography stretches across an entire region. The weapons are faster and more precise than anything seen before. The economic damage is already global. And the list of countries now involved keeps growing. And now the Washington Post is reporting that the Pentagon is preparing for weeks of ground operations inside Iran. Not airstrikes. Not drone campaigns. Boots on the ground. In Iran. Here is what nobody in Washington wants to admit. There is no clean exit. No surgical strike that ends it. No tweet that turns it around. Wars find their own momentum. They pull in actors nobody invited. They create consequences nobody modeled. The Houthis were supposed to stay out. Dubai was supposed to be untouchable. Both assumptions are now gone.

@BasedMikeLee According to your caucus, ICE is fully funded already. So, there's nothing stopping the House from passing the bipartisan agreement that would fund TSA, FEMA, the Coast Guard, Cybersecurity and other essential services. Quit playing more stupid games with peoples lives.

@mergerguy @BGOnTheScene Not the own you think it is. 25 of the 30 states that voted MAGA in 2024 rely more on SNAP than the national average. 40% of recipients are children under 18 & 20% are over 60. 28% of all SNAP households had earned income, including the 55% of households with children. 1/2
