Exams at Princeton have been unproctored under an Honor Code since 1893. “Students pledge both to refrain from infractions of academic dishonesty and to report any breaches of the Constitution they witness.” But AI has led to an increase in academic dishonesty cases, so:

@kareem_carr I don’t quite follow. It’s the US government wanting this, not the UK government?

This is absolutely insane. Imagine you get into Oxford or Cambridge as an American, now you have to make ALL your socials accessible not just to the UK government, but the entire planet so that this one government can snoop on you.

Phosgene gas, also known as mustard gas, is actually a byproduct of bleach when combined with ammonia. A few other elements that are created as a byproduct include hydrochloric acid, chlorine gas and hydrazine.

@lewis_goodall Couldn’t call Dianne Abbot in a debate about her but calls this guy at the first opportunity. Is there a constitutional reason? I really don’t want to hear what Swiss has to say.

NEW: Nigel Farage addresses the Commons for the first time. He endorses Lindsay Hoyle and attacks former Speaker John Bercow calling him “a little man who did his best to overturn the biggest democratic vote in this country’s history.”

"I can't believe they let journalists in here - I think it's disgusting..." My report from inside the UK's counter-terror expo, where police chiefs and AI surveillance companies plot ways to crack down on Palestine protesters and the UK's most vulnerable communities:

@DerekL03 @mthr_alice What does ‘saying goodbye properly’ mean. We had a direct cremation, and a thanksgiving service afterwards, surrounded by my father’s paintings. Was it any less of a goodbye because his coffin wasn’t in the room?

@mthr_alice I see the economic case but definitely not the social/theological one. It’s a deceit to pretend we can avoid saying goodbye properly by replacing it with a life celebration. We can offer a flexible service in church with all the family input needed, yet with a spiritual backbone

Has the C of E done any publicly available thinking/ writing on direct cremations? We are finding that our local funeral directors are offering them and they are increasingly popular. We've got theological skin in this game, haven't we?

@zo_grant @mthr_alice We recently paid £1200 for my father’s remains to be cremated. A service at the crematorium would have been £3500. That pays for my mother to take a holiday with us at their favourite beach to scatter his ashes. Which will be way more memorable than 45 min in a soulless crem.

@mthr_alice Sorry this post was on my TL and I feel strongly about. Many people get into deep debt paying for funerals. I deal with it every day. Direct cremations save the living from this burden. Campaign for affordable funerals if you feel that direct crems are lacking spiritually.
