That does seem to be the issue. Leadership. The year Lindor has his would have been MVP if not for baseball Jesus year, there were two clubhouse factors: Iglesias and rallying around him and OMG & JD Martinez. Meanwhile, everyone said he was captain and the glue inbetween.

So far its been yet another season of Mets hitting without pitching, pitching without hitting to lose games while not hitting with RISP. Im not sure this means they are a lets tank team. I do honestly truly believe the Mets may need some form of true leadership from within

2022 should never be used as an example of anything the way that team fell apart at the end, letting the division slip away and losing in pitiful fashion in the wild card round. 2022 is actually an inditement more than it is a positive example

@TalkinMetsNoG This is also a tired narrative. That core won 101 games in 2022 and went to the NLCS in 2024. It’s not a simple “We lost with you, we can lose without you” situation. Stearns got rid of popular players WHO HAD SUCCESS on an individual and team level.
