NYC crowd growing quickly in front of the Court House to call for the release of Brad Lander, Comptroller and NYC Mayorial candidate. In the wake of Saturday’s momentous protests in NYC, Brad Lander, was arrested while accompanying a person out of immigration court.

@dale_schaeffer @DerwinLGray Rates of trauma (ACES) are higher in pastors, suggesting that trauma nudges people toward ministry. This puts a finer point on Gray’s comment. I add that centering on Christ without the hard work of healing one’s own trauma sets pastors on destructive pathways.

Too many pastor are looking for ministry to heal them, when the truth is that what ministry will actually do is expose you if you’re not centered on Christ. @DerwinLGray 🔥

As God’s people we must embody a different way of being in the world, one shaped by a holy imagination and vision of love that sees beyond all hatred and violence. All of it, without exception. Lord, grant us the love and courage to live as peacemakers who reveal a better way.

And this is how one man’s hubris contributes to the election of Trump. Biden, stepping aside, could have scripted a different outcome.

Notice how it’s always “God created humanity male and female,” until it comes to affirming women’s rights, equality, and leadership. Then the “female” part of God’s image conveniently becomes minimized, silenced, and subjugated. So very shameful.

I’m a Christian, I believe in the separation of church and state. I believe no religion should be given preference by our government, including my own. I believe following Jesus results in caring for the needs of everyone, no matter if their beliefs differ from mine or not.

To affirm women in ministry is not a capitulation to culture but rather a dismantling of old creation with its brokenness and division. Recognizing women as gifted and called by God to lead the church bears witness to and embodies the reality of New Creation.

On Good Friday, I told the kids that most of Jesus' disciples were too scared to follow him to the cross, but some of them were not and I named them (so, mostly women). Today I saw one of the kids and asked if she remembered the story and she said: "Yeah, Jesus and the girls."

I wonder if someone should tell NYC Emergency services that the earthquake alerts aren’t much help an hour after the earthquake? I needed that information right after the shaking, but I came here and verified it within 30 seconds of the shaking.
