Nobody tells you this: Building is lonely. No one is coming to save you. The pressure never turns off but actually increase. It’s you vs your own mind. Most people don’t make it past that. You have to truly care about what you’re building. You have to want it deeply.

Ran into a neighbor this morning, started to discuss the books we’re reading. He’s a VC, he mentioned that he’s becoming alarmed by the increasingly one-dimensionality of founders. He said he often asks them, name a non-business book you’ve recently read, or art you enjoy that wasn’t at Burning Man. He infrequently gets an answer. This is the non-introspective generation.
