Today, I introduced the proposed 2026 City of Brampton Budget – focused on fiscal responsibility, community safety and strong service delivery, while continuing critical investments that support Brampton’s future. With a proposed 1.5% increase on the City’s portion of the property tax bill, Brampton continues to maintain one of the lowest property tax rates in the GTA. The budget also includes record reserves of $163M to protect our long-term financial sustainability. In addition to investing in transformative City projects like Riverwalk and our Downtown Revitalization, key highlights include: ✔️ Health Care: Continued one per cent levy to support the completion of Brampton’s second hospital at Peel Memorial. ✔️ Public Safety: Investments in enforcement, education and emergency services, including new by-law officers, firefighters and fire prevention staff to keep communities safe and hold bad actors accountable. ✔️ Parks and Recreation: Continued investment in parks and recreation amenities that promote healthy lifestyles, strong neighbourhoods and quality of life for residents of all ages. ✔️ Innovation and Jobs: Strengthening the local economy through talent development and job creation, including investments in the Brampton Innovation District, BHive’s new AI training for small and medium-sized businesses, the Brampton Venture Zone and Cybersecure Catalyst. ✔️ Arts and Culture: Expanding accessible cultural programming, investing in local venues and public spaces, supporting artists and preparing for The Rose Theatre’s 20th anniversary. ✔️ Environment: Advancing environmental resilience through investments in green spaces, energy efficiency, tree planting and climate action initiatives. These investments ensure Brampton remains a strong, safe and thriving city. This budget reflects what we’ve heard from you throughout this year and term, Brampton, and I encourage you to continue sharing your feedback at one of the many public engagements across the city as part of the City’s 2026 Budget process. @regionofpeel I have reached out 3 times plus an email two days go. Today makes day 4 it’s been on the curb. The trucks were in my area earlier today, only did a couple streets near me and left recycling blowing all over the place. No on hold for an hour for the 4th time. Ridiculous!!!!

@JoshMatlow Collection day was Tuesday, they still haven’t picked it up after asking us to leave the recycling on the curb until today and with today’s winds there’s loose recycling all over the neighborhood. Horrible first experience

The Ford government has removed most residential recycling pick up from the City and has given a company called Circular Materials responsibility for this service. I’m hearing from several residents that their recycling wasn’t picked up last week. This is completely unacceptable.

I’m 100% with Canada. This man is serious. This guy’s our new spirit animal. I remember when I felt this way about my country. Fuck Donald Trump. It’s the world vs. MAGA. 🇺🇸🇨🇦

@Bell_Support I’ve been using the app on firestick for over a month cuz you guys came out to fix an issue&my receiver hasn’t worked since,been on the phone with you guys 5 times told I’d need a temp line,still not fixed or no temp line,looks like I should switch back to Rogers,fed up!
