The most dangerous assumption is that freedom is guaranteed. In every generation, we fight for freedom.
Passover is the story of Freedom.
But more than that, it’s a test.
The Jewish people were enslaved in Egypt and refused to accept that as their reality. They chose to believe that even the strongest, most untouchable power could be challenged… and eventually, broken.
That’s why this story is retold every year. Not to remember the past, but to recognize the present.
Because oppression didn’t end in Egypt… it just changed form.
Iran, people are beaten, imprisoned, and killed for speaking out, for protesting, for wanting something as basic as freedom. Different place, same reality: a system built on fear, counting on the world to stay quiet.
Passover reminds us that freedom isn’t something you’re handed, it’s something people choose to fight for. And just as importantly, it reminds us that silence is never neutral. It always helps the oppressor.
History doesn’t just repeat itself, it asks the same question, over and over again:
Who will stand up… and who will look away?
