That being said… I do respect the political activism, peaceful demonstration, and doing something outside posting on the internet. So they have that going for them!

Coming back to former Twitter to post this take: No Kings is a useless movement. It’s focusing on the wrong thing for bad reasons at the time where Trump’s support is the lowest. Curious what society would look like if we dedicated efforts to worthwhile causes.

Sad to see the post-divorce instagram story competition between the formerly married couple to show their friends how happy the kids are. Wife had a pregnancy scare. Husband agreed to get "snipped". ~2 years later wife files for divorce. Great family and kids, bad decisions.

@meaning_enjoyer I took it off my phone and log on like once every 1-2 months on desktop. I don't really feel like I'm missing much.

I like coming back on this site because of the nostalgia. I also like the taste of an old addiction. I love the feeling of being baited. A great reminder of how far I’ve come to be able to identify the triggers. I wish I could stay longer… but alas. See ya’ll next time.

Imagine being addicted to success. Most people don’t have that urge, most are hedonists. Imagine a heroin level addiction to power.

I like this site because I do learn things, but the doom and gloom/geopolitics is just too much. Warps my worldview and makes me less hopeful. Where is the hopeful social media?

@pipelineclub100 IMHO it depends on the offering. In my industry, you should keep calling the person but intermittently, maybe monthly or quarterly.

An argument I have with my sales director weekly I strongly believe that if a prospect is non-responsive it’s time to move on and get it out of the pipe. He thinks that if we would be calling them more often we’d get them to re-engage. The ROI on chasing is really low compared to building new pipeline. That’s why I don’t listen to him and close it out and move to the next.

@Czargip @TheShamdoo The westward expansion still meant massive uncertainty and discomfort. That’s why the literal farm is a good example in the present age. The average person is risk adverse and doesn’t really want to experience much discomfort.

@ThinkNBoutStuff @TheShamdoo By farm, I meant opportunities. Back in the day, a farm was the opportunity. America had so much land to fill that it took us almost 300 years for that plan to finally not be able to work.

You guys seriously don’t get how cooked the economy is Trying to go on a trip with like 15 college friends - it’s about $200 per person for the weekend Only THREE of them can afford it. THREE. The youth is living off their parents and it’s a house of cards waiting to topple

@Czargip @TheShamdoo Pretty sure there are a lot of financial resources for people who want to literally move somewhere remote and start a farm. IME, most people don’t want to own a farm. They want to live near a major metro and work an email job.

American culture was that as soon as you turn 18, you move out and get your own farm land. For 300 years, that was the play, as there was so much land to conquer. Ask the land is now owned and rented. An 18 year old can't afford yo move out and get his own farm, now, he has to stay in the family business. Like the rest of the world.

@TheSalonDon To be fair, at the “walk into office and give handshake” stage you’re probably pretty close. But no, you can’t really knock on office doors unannounced and do this.

Reindustrialise One of the big challenges for reindustrialisation is ‘Just In Time’ supply chains that are extremely brittle and optimised to have minimum capital employed, because capital employed has an opportunity cost. The downside of JIT is that as soon as demand picks up unexpectedly, the lead times all blow out because stockpiles are illiquid. Blown out lead times then hurt every potential buyer because everyone has fixed costs and overheads to pay whilst they wait for the extended lead time. If an economy wanted to expand its manufacturing base, it should modify its accounting laws such that unsold stock provides some sort of tax shield. eg value unsold stockpiles of some goods at market value, rather than cost of sales. This way when demand driven price shocks happen, they reward the companies holding stockpiles with big tax reductions. This would improve the liquidity of some goods that are important to industry. There must be dozens of similar policy improvements that could aid the redevelopment of the manufacturing base with the flick of a pen?
