Brad Stevens made it extremely clear in his presser after the playoffs that this team wasn’t good enough to win another title. Celtics just don’t have a lot of players who can significantly upgrade team to change that. At the time, Brown’s trade value was at its peak.

If the Celtics don’t get back a 20pt scorer in their return for Jaylen, I could definitely see Anfernee Simons returning to Boston. No, of course he’s not the all around player Jaylen is, but offensively he can replace a good percentage.

Jaylen Brown finished the 2025-26 season ranked 19th in the illustrious “huge nerd index.” So yes—even with the meh efficiency, bad on-off numbers and ball control issues—I think this is taking things a little too far.

@AndrewDBailey Yes, but in past seasons, you had him in the 40 to 50 range on that same index. Again seventh best on a team is a bit absurd but to say third or fourth best player on a really good team isn’t crazy according to your rankings. Celtics are selling him like a franchise star.

What do we make of ESPN reporters basically saying the Celtics can’t win with Jaylen and he’s 100% getting traded while other reporters are suggesting the opposite all while Stephen A continues to beef with Jaylen? My head hurts
