@BizNasty2point0 The NHL review office would have called to stop the play if they called it no goal anyway. They have done it before for missed goals, they sound the horn to stop play and inform the on ice officials that a goal was scored. They review it all so they "get the call right" They did

@jasondemers5 Doesn't matter, it would have just delayed the inevitable. The NHL head office reviews everything and would have sounded the horn to stop play and call it a good goal. It's been done many times before on missed goal calls.

Should be called no goal on the ice unless one of these guys has x-ray vision. Common sense from the overhead is the puck crossed the line . But on the ice call should have been “no goal”

@ryanwhitney6 It doesn't matter! The head office reviews everything in the playoffs, if play started then after a few minutes the buzzer would have sounded to halt play and it would have been called a good goal. They have done it many times before.

@ryanwhitney6 If they had a faceoff and play started it would still be called a goal. The control center reviews everything and would have sounded the buzzer to halt play and call it a goal. They have done it before. Similar to the offside in the Ottawa/Carolina game.

@FriedgeHNIC The whole idea behind the video review was to "get the call right ". They do a similar thing when there's a boarding or high sticking by calling a major and then walking it back to make the right call. In this case, they "got the call right", end of story.

@Werdnah @KurtLeavins Not really When a goal is missed and the play keeps going the people in the situation room would call and then they sound the buzzer and call it a good goal. Any time there is a chance a call may be considered controversial they will leave it to video review,similar to penalties

@Tolerator17 @KurtLeavins … on the ice would’ve forced the situation room to find conclusive evidence to confirm the puck crossed the goal line. On a call this close it requires an unobstructed view of the puck in relation to the goal line. Jarry’s skate prevented that so the initial call would’ve stood.

You will hear this opinion in the Cult of Hockey podcast David & I just finished, but no official was in position to make that call on the ice, and did not signal either way. Yeah, puck was “probably” in. But refs tipped the scales of justice in how they handled it. Bad look.

@CarloColaiacovo Really, you act like the officials have never made a bad call or missed a call ever. I know it's Montreal but these missed or phantom calls happen a half dozen times to every other team in the NHL. ..except maybe Boston and Florida.
